ED chances Let me Know ASAP!

I am deciding between ED with Cornell, Emory, and U Penn. I liked Emory's campus the best, and ATL looks like a fun city, but I need to know what you people think my chances are so I can put out my essays..

GPA: 3.7 Weighted
SAT scores:

Jan 06 - Round 1: 1440/1600 (top 3% of NY)
June06 - SATs were higher but freakin school isn't getting them thru the CB, so hold off on that for the moment

SAT IIs:

Physics - 690
US history - 690
Math 1 - Nov.2 - projected range is 750 - 800
Math II - Nov.2 - projected range is 700 - 750

top 25% or possibly top 10%, my school still hasn't put out the stats.

my grades have been Bs and As, but I have done really well on my standardized tests through out the years. Maybe a C here and there, but nothing that I cannot legitimately explain.

course load has been hard, all honors and AP except for regents english junior year.

Senior Year schedule:

AP Biology
AP Calculus AB
AP Statistics
College English
Advanced Pro Tools recording tech

150 hours + volunteering in the hospital/ ER shift

Written articles about whey protein isolate use for teenage bodybuilders @ bodybuilding.com's newsletter

Treasurer of the movie club, which I also helped found

Invited & Attended summer programs at Johns Hopkins 2x 10th, 11th grades

Summer of senior year, spend time working in a hospital in the Bombay, India slums helping out, and watching neurosurgeries in my spare time.

Co-Captain of Math Team

1.5 years job experience tutoring children

Have a band with whom I have done a lot of recording work with, our first CD sold/downloaded 4,000 copies.

Built my own in home recording studio, which really was crazy. Awesome learning experience.

I might have forgotten some stuff. I have a great essay coming along, atleast I think so. My weakness are my grades, I really feel now I should of eased up on my extracurriculars to focus on them, because they are lower than they should be or would be had I payed more attention to them. But I did to a ton of stuff in my high school career and hopefully Emory will see that

your chances look bright/ especially with the hospital volunteer hours...
def consider Emory, i live in atlanta and i lov the virginia highlands area/ it will be a completly different experience than isolated Cornell lol

I'm having a REALLY hard time deciding between the 2, I will go where ever I have higher chances of acceptance. I know Emory isn't as GPA intensive as Cornell because they said that they weigh SAT score and GPA equally but give greater weightage to course intensity.

how bright are my chances right now, above 70%? 75%? I want to make the decision of where I'm gonna apply ED right now, so I can use next week to work my supplement essays and have my app in by Nov. 1

Why are you so intent on applying ED?

IMO, ED is a good option for someone who is very confident that he or she wants to attend a specific university -- moreover, someone who has been very confident for a prolonged period of time.

ED is binding; if accepted, you pretty much have to enroll. Choosing a college is a huge decision as it often drastically affects the course of your life. With so much at stake, a decision that may be affected by replies on a blog and occurs mere days before a deadline is not a good decision.

You have good stats. Your ECs are really unique. Depending on what your uw gpa is, I think you have a legitimate chance of getting into Emory RD, and at all three universities RD. In any case, ED is only going to be a mild advantage. RD gives you more time to think about which university you want to attend. Perhaps, you'll know by January that Emory is for you - and, you can apply ED2 at Emory. Not to mention, if you're just starting your college application.. by waiting until the RD deadlines and spending the time in between perfecting your application or showing improvement in your grades, you'll probably make up the difference and more that ED gives you because your ED application was thrown together one or two weeks beforehand, wheras your RD application was worked on over a period of months.

Just my opinion, but I don't think you should apply ED anywhere.

i hav to agree with blaze991, ED is a huge decision and a few responses rly shouldnt affect ur decision
college admissions is rly just a crap shoot/ u never rly know

Good luck though, hope u make the right decision

excellent points by both of you. You have convinced me (well not just you after talking to friends and family) to apply to Emory EDII
