Would you have absolutely no regrets if you were accepted? No what ifs, maybes, or mental lists of what could have been? Brown and columbia are so different that I think you'd have to ask yourself where you'd really be happy. I know admit rates are slightly higher for ED, but I wouldn't do it just to apply ED somewhere - only if its your top choice.

Statistically, I THINK Dartmouth's ED rate is something like 30%, which is much, much higher than Brown's. Someone correct this if it's wrong though.

I can't really comment on which school would be easier, since there all so competitive. My suggestion would be to apply to the school you like. Columbia and Dartmouth/Brown are polar opposities. Columbia has a core, Brown has no core so keep that in mind if you do or don't like structure. Dartmouth is a bit rural as opposed to the urban NYC location of Columbia, so you also have to decide whether you want that to.

I think Brown's ED rate is about 24-28%, but it changes every year. Definitely pick the one that you would have no regrets going to--which one had a better environment, program, and "feel" for you!! It's different for everyone.
