So I'll be submitting my application tomorrow ED to Northwestern, and I'd just like to know if anyone thinks I have a shot at getting in!

I have a pretty good recommendation from my former English teacher, and an excellent rec from my athletic trainer/EXPO adviser. I think both of my essays are decent...

Also, I toured both Northwestern and Medill, so I don't know if that will make me look any better.

I’d say that you have an excellent chance of getting in. My only concern would be that there doesn’t appear to be anything in your information about anything Journalism related.

How much do my grades matter? Will I stand out because I’ve had straight A’s or does it not matter too much?

Will Northwestern have any information on the types of classes offered at my high school? Because at my school, we’re required to take all “regular” level classes as prerequisites before we can take honors and AP classes, and I’ve seen a lot of people on here who have been taking advanced level classes since their freshman year. I don’t know if this will make it look like I haven’t been challenging myself with my schedule, but I’ve made it as difficult as possible while dealing with the way my school is set up.

The admissions officer responsible for your area will be familiar with your school and your curriculum. They evaluate students within the context of what was available to them. They want to see that you challenged yourself and did well. Your grades definitely matter. Good luck!

You have excellent grades (they will evaluate the rigor of your schedule in the context of your school), quite a few AP’s, a good ACT score, and excellent EC’s. I’m just a future applicant myself, but I’d say that you have pretty decent chances at a very competitive school. Apparently, ED does have some weight in admissions (I’ve heard this via my own chances thread) so applying early will probably help you as well. Good luck!
