Can anyone tell me if I have a chance?

I'm Indian. I've lived in the middle east for 16 years. I'm 16. I'm applying for Early Decision to U Penn, at the Wharton School of Business

I've taken the SAT three times, In Jan., in May and then in October this year. My first has been the highest, while in May it dropped. It dropped by 60 points on the total score from Jan to May.

Before joining 9th Grade, I successfully attained the title of Dan 1 ConfirmBlack Belt in Shodokan Karate.
*Started Swim Team in 7th Grade, participated during summer at competitions in India, while in Oman, competed against schools in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

I have taken a total of 2 Ap's. but i've taken them in my senior year ( I am taking them). The school had changed it's subject preference, and dropped the course my class in took in Grade 9 so thus the 11th graders this year can take more AP's than we can.

I have 2 recommendations:
1 from a bio teacher from 10th and another from english in 11th grade.

I'm going to take the SAT 2 in November in Physics and Math 2

To add to that, My GPA is around a 2.6 but I have taken challenging courses throughout my entire high school career, but they haven't been AP's, but they were challenging courses because of mainly the teachers.

Can any undergrad or anyone at all tell me, if i have a chance ?

Also, I can pay full, I dont need any financial support. I am financially very very well off.

For one thing, Penn is need blind so it doesn't matter how much you can pay.

From the Ivy League viewpoint both your GPA and SAT scores are abysmal, and I don't think singing in a local hotel is very impressive to ivy adcoms snort

Really, dear, to be even remotely considering Penn you should have at the VERYVERYVERY least a 3.7 GPA and a 2000 on the SAT.

GPA and SAT are way too low. Wharton - Personally I think you have a very slim chance.

Only all-state athletes with those scores get accepted.

Whatever the singing.. it's just part of all dat i've done. I mean.. they always have the profile where people have scores below 600 or something.. and they're like 10%. so I tht i'd have a chance.. wouldn't the essay being good cut it ?

By the way dat profile for the below 600 group generally would apply to URM's whereas you would not qualify for URM status

Your singing at the hotel, the bhagwat gita recitation, using the French language to interact while actually in France, mini courses taken of DJing and so forth, and training at a Switchgear Manufacturing Unit - while impressive - would probably not be sufficient for U Penn

The 2.6 GPA while commendable is also a problem

You face a very steep hill to overcome and Mt Everest does come to mind

Those 10% are recruited athletes whose scores are low but will play a varsity sport.

im pretty sure this is a joke

hon, try hard and bring up that gpa...way, way up to at least a 3.5 to be even considered. SATs should at least be in the high 600s.

i dont want to be harsh but you have 0% chance... i know people say never say never but honestly... you cant get in

consider that you are not only applying to penn, one of the 10 best colleges in America if not the world, but you are applying to wharton, arguably the best business school in the world.

Furthermore, consider that your being from India doesnt help you that much. First of all, there are going to be plenty from other countries that have much higher SATs and much higer GPA

In addition, consider that Penn isnt looking for people to accept, people basically kiss the floor should they get in and those are people with GPAs of or around 4 with SATs in the 2100+

Also remember that in that bottom 10% are recruited athletes or people whos parents donate ridiculos amounts of money (one current president comes to mind)

Seriously, good luck to you, but you have virtually no chance

if you are set on going to college in America at a good business school there are lots of others that you might have a better shot at but which you also have very, very, very slim chances... Stern at NYU comes in mind, UT Austin has a good one and Syracuse may be more doable for you, but with your GPA and SAT as low as they are even getting into lesser colleges than PENN is going to be tuff

wow.... a very thorough and accurate response ^^^
good job, goopsta91589

Your scores are "abysmal" to quote someone else. My
SAT scores are in the 2200's. SAT II's in high 750's and
I only have a chance. You really shouldn't get your hopes up.
Okay?? Find a less competitive school. University of Michigan might
take you snort, snicker, laughs, coughs

redsun--I hope you are smart enough to understand that this was a joke.

if he's very very very well off, who knows, he could be the son of some oil magnate...

ya id have to agree that you have no shot.
consider some less competitive schools
