Work experience
I've worked at the largest and most legendary indie record store in the city for a year; youngest ever hired by far (at 15)

Love Columbia, been wanting to go there since I was 6. People told me I would change my mind but I never did. Most likely I'm going to either use an essay that contrasts the less-than-pristine quality of my job (they asked me if I was even going to college) with my ritzy college-prep school, or an essay entitled "In Defense of Dead White Guys" which is pretty self-explanatory. History major all the way; can't wait to take a class from Eric Foner. Also applying EA to U of Chicago, but that's more for peace of mind: I'm 110% Columbia blue and white.

good chance, if you’re love for columbia shows through without seeming desperate to sell yourself, you should make it, quite strong all round.

thanks, seeming desperate is what i’m having a lot of trouble with in my why columbia? portion of the application, and i’m not sure if i should write a cover letter or not…

sorry to be a pain, but anyone else have any thoughts? i also forgot a few awards, ap scholar with distinction, national merit semifinalist, and the glory of missouri award given out by the missouri state legislature (i embody the spirit of “liberty” apparently)

I can definitely see you as a history major at columbia ?next year? Your essays sound intruiging. Your application seems strong!
