Dartmouth is the only college that I'm considering to apply to out of state and it IS my highest highest reach choice. Anyways, I want to know whether I should even bother to apply or not.

hopefully i'll do better on the next SATs about the standardized test part
but, I'm mostly wondering if I should bother applying as a long shot-kind of choice.

i have a 2140 and good grades but my college counseler is telling me not to apply because it would be too big a stretch (I'm going to be awasteful and apply anyways and hoep for a miracle though).

i mean, I liked princeton and penn, but sometimes we just have to be realistic about our chances.

^It's so refreshing to hear someone say that. I'm sick of people saying I should apply to HYP and Stanford because "dude, you'd obviously get in," when that is not at all true. As for the standardized tests, try the ACT. A lot of my friends did poorly on the SATs and really well on the ACT. If you don't, I agree, it's probably not an option. Heck, I have a 2200 (700 CR, 720 W, 780 M), and I still consider Dartmouth a reach.

Apply. Your SATs (1440/1600) are fine as are your other standardized test scores. Much will depend on your application & on your teacher recs. Your class rank is outstanding & so is your GPA. With an acceptance rate of only 15%, Dartmouth College is tough for all applicants. If you don't apply, you may regret it for the rest of your life. I think that your chances are slightly better than average based on your posted profile in this thread.
