We are on the West Coast and our D has not heard yet.

Someone from my D school heard in Northern NJ, she was accepted!

My son was also deferred.

We’re pretty shocked given how encouraging folks in Athletics were. We chatted with admissions - they said they generally take about 10% from those who were deferred. Oh well - good to know he was a competitive candidate. On to him finishing up the common app.

BT Mell I am sorry that your child got deferred, so tough but surely they will go somewhere good. My son got accepted! He was kissing the mailman he was so excited. It really is all about what they do once they get to college so getting in is really just the first step of being on their own and serious about their future.

It has been very helpful to me to watch the Bates discussion and many people including Sue22 were very helpful to me when my son was trying to decide between some of the NESCAC schools,

Thanks for your kind words. I know that things work out for the best - and tomorrow I’ll go back to my usually optimistic way of being. Congratulations to your son! That’s really wonderful news. (and I’m glad to see someone got accepted - heh)

When you said you watched the Bates discussion, do you mean this thread?

BTMELL: What is your son’s sport? I am sorry it didn’t work out for him in ED. Who knows, he could get good news from Bates in the spring. We ate in the Midwest and haven’t received a yes, no, or maybe yet.

Maybe tomorrow.

Ughhh, nothing in the mail today. I thought it would be here today because the pin only took two days to reach us. I hope the letter arrives tomorrow.

I am quite a sporadic checker of these sites but when my son was in the heat of deciding on his ED choice, I put up some questions about Colby, Bates, Tufts and Wesleyan that had all caught his attention and it was nice seeing the answers that were so detailed about the pros and cons of each. I am not much of a web user but have found this college confidential site to be interesting though I am probably like a .001% user compared to others I see. I will continue to check in for sure

i live in MA and friends’ letters came today but mine didn’t…i emailed admissions but no response…real worried. am i the only one??

Nope, my kid’s in the same position. Unless you’re him! :)

He’s a golfer. He has a friend who’s a rower who also received very positive feedback from the coaches there and who was also deferred.

Wow, I’m hearing about so many deferrals, not just from this site but from elsewhere as well. Must have really been a competitive ED pool this year, so I’m feeling a bit better about my own deferral.

Bates seems to have a real communication issue. Last year, we waited almost two weeks before our S received the official acceptance package from Admissions. I don’t know why they can’t post online the decision letters.

S is accepted - Memphis, TN

Daughter is accepted!!

Congrats to phillsphr and youlittletart. Glad it worked out. Tough year. ED applications were up 30 percent. Maybe we will meet up there! Everyone have a great holiday.

Still no letter on the West Coast. Ugh!

Son accepted. One friend accepted, another deferred, a third applying ED2.

Congratulations to all who were accepted! Apparently it was a tough year for ED. Onward!
