<p>ooh nice, you dont go to ransom-everglades or gulliver prep by any chance do you? where else are you applying? i applied EA to miami! do you like it there? (i need to escape massachusetts)</p>
<p>where else is everyone applying in case the unspeakable happens (knock on wood of course)?</p>
<p>No i do not. Those are great schools, but are located in Coral Gables and my school in is North Miami. A few kids from each of those are applying ED to Emory, and well as students from Pinecrest.</p>
<p>Im also applying to NYU, UMICH, UMIAMI, INDIANA (accepted).
Thats it for now, I hope i get in because I dont like the other places I applied to.</p>
<p>UMIAMI, to me anyways, is not such a great school. Mainly, I dont really like the campus; the buildings are a little outdated. Alot of my friends go there, and its a great school, also good social scene, but its not for me. Maybe i wanted something with more of a "name". No comparison between Miami and Emory. Emory had like a feeling to it which is why I like it so much. It also seems more intellectual and, although ive only been to Atlanta twice, I love it.</p>
<p>But, in the longrun, Miami is where i want to live. So, i plan on moving back after college. Im not sure if you have ever visited, but its the best place to live. Im in love with it lol. </p>
<p>By the way, UMIAMI is located in Coral Gables, which is really good location for access to South Beach. Coral Gables is like a upscale city within the Great Miami area, 5 minutes from Downtown. It has a distinct flavor and architecture only found there; its really nice.</p>
<p>thanks seiclan :), yeah i took a break from CC for awhile but here i am again... 1 week until my fate is decided. i have to say that this website is very stressful... i dont even want to post my GPA!<br>
but anywayssss, yeah so i'm applying to Miami, Santa Clara, Maryland, Elon (all EA... i went a little overboard with that... applied to all the schools on my "potentials" list with EA options haha), umm then RD probably WUSTL, richmond, i don't even know, i want to be somewhere warm but not too southern (i am really liberal), and nothing really fits me like emory does... i know what you mean about that "feeling" dell123, i had the same one.. when i visited i just felt like i fit so well there. i love everything about it.
as far as miami goes, i know what you mean also. i am interested in it mainly for the city, ive actually never even been there but ive seen and heard enough to win me over (plus my mom grew up in florida and went to UF)... i love that it is so diverse, especially because i probably want to minor in spanish (i went to spain last summer and it was probably the most incredible experience of my life), and the social scene is really strong. HOWEVER i am worried about it academically-- i want to major in english and creative writing and while i am told they have good english and writing programs there i dont think they are as awesome as emory's. also, while i am very social i need an at least somewhat intellectual atmosphere, and i dont know how miami is in this sense. the stereotype is that it is a party school, and i dont want that to follow me around for the rest of my life.. blah and i try to act like i dont care about prestige (I dont i swear!! just worried that other people might... as in future employers, etc).
emory, of course, is the perfect combination. so, i have all my fingers crossed. good luck to you dell and to your DD seiclan! i hope we all get in!!</p>
<p>yeah definietly. the "prestige" environment of Emory is much higher then that of UMIAMI. EMory is that true great combination you describe, hilary, and i think thats what makes it such a great school.</p>
<p>regarding that feeling from it campus, its just so clean and nice looking. i like how it had a sub-urban feel to it, but not too far from Atlanta, which is so great. additionally, besides the great campus, is had a good business school, okay dorms, etc. </p>
<p>and being that atlanta is close to Florida and a delta airlines hub are a plus..so you can fly to most places pretty quickly w/o any connections.</p>
<p>and the countdown continues....5 days till the 15th (as of tommorow).....wonder when we will hear though..hopefully by the 20/21st.!</p>
<p>But, for international students, they provide e-mail notification.
I send e-mail to ask about it and the office answered:
"We will be notifying international students by email."</p>
