I think you should report your rank and that there is no need to retake a 34 or a 2320. Rather, work on your essays and definitely apply ED. ED can be your hook, because as it stands your ECs are somewhat bland (when compared to Dartmouth’s applicant pool). I think you will probably get accepted ED, but no guarantees. Good luck! You are really the perfect type of applicant for ED, and I think it will make the difference between an acceptance and a waitlist!

Are you guys serious? Dartmouth is significantly easier to get into than Penn ED.
Look at average scores of middle 50 percent.

Ugh, I am planning to apply to Dartmouth, but I would die next to all you other CCers. As stated, apply ED and write really amazing essays. Good luck…but not too much as where you ruin my own. ;)

Ah lots of replies, thanks everyone.

Yeah the competition within my school will be tough, there are a lot of really amazing people here. I already know of some people whom I’d consider stronger applicants than myself (better GPA, ECs, all that jazz) applying ED to some of the schools I’m interested in. But, theres not so much that I can change at this point, really all I can do is hope that adcoms will see something about me that stands out :)

I’m really starting to rethink my college list again. I keep flip-flopping on the university vs LAC options…I think I’d do better in a smaller class environment and community, but since I’m not thinking about grad school at this point I want to make sure its a place with good job prospects, too.
As far at the city thing goes, I’m still not sure. I really dont do well in cities- I love the country- but I’m not sure, if the school was well suited for me in every other way, if its really wise just to pass it up because of location. So I’m still contemplating that issue.

I’m going on college visits next week and looking at like 15 schools, so hopefully I’ll get a sense of direction after that (and summer school at Brown, so I can think about that one carefully)

Oh and sat subject scores came back:

literature: 790
math 2: 740 (retaking in the fall)
us history: 770

yea uiuc should be safety considering yur stats

also penn and washu might not be matches for u if u decide against big cities

Thanks, yeah I’m debating it

cc’r - what? which 50% are you looking at?

Is there a website (besides Naviance) that says average ED accepted SAT scores? Maybe thats what he’s talking about, since those are regular admission. But I’ve always thought of the two schools as similar selectiveness, perhaps Dartmouth more so because of its small size
