D wants to apply to LAC with ED deadline of Nov 1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but even though she has created an account for the common app and will submit it on or before Nov 1, there are several components that can't be submitted online -- like ED Agreement (which must be signed); teacher recs and transcript; Oct 9 SAT scores (she'll request that they be sent as soon as they're available, but they won't be received by Nov 1). What constitutes meeting the deadline? Or is it different with each school? If a teacher mails their rec and it's postmarked Nov 2, is her app disqualified?

Would be helpful if you named school. For most: transcript, recs, signed ED agreement need to be sent (postmarked) by Nov 1. If teacher blows rec letter by a day usually not an issue but you should try to avoid that, which of course is why it is always recommended that you start asking for teacher recs in early September (also note at a lot of high schools, the counselor sends out all things at once including rec letters meaning your transcript may also be delayed and you really don’t want that to occur). As to test score as long as you order it sent regular delivery as soon as it is released you are fine.

That again is for most. There are some who have stricter policies – e.g., they want any Oct scores sent automatically as soon as they are released and tell you that means designating the college as one of your automatic sends on the registration for the test and that waiting to send until after score comes out may be too late.
