it says You may receive your decision online. We plan to post all decisions here on Thursday, December 11, 2008, after 5:00pm (Eastern Time). You will receive a decision letter by conventional mail as well.
does that mean that we will or will not receive an emailed decision also?? i posted this on the official ed thread but everyone was too busy freaking out to answer my question :( or i read both

also, does anyone know if it's true that most people either get accepted or rejected and not many people get deferred?

For your first question, you will have to login to their website to receive your decision. They will not send you your decision via email.

Not sure about the latter question.

Last year, I think they deferred more than they accepted…Check their website under admissions statistics

Here’s a more detailed breakdown of Columbia admit stats: [Columbia University Statistical Abstract | Admissions 2004-2006](http://www.columbia.edu/cu/opir/abstract/admissions_2006.html)

And while I’m not sure where they got these numbers, here’s Wiki CU’s page on admit stats: [url=Admissions - WikiCU, the Columbia University wiki encyclopedia]Admissions - WikiCU, the Columbia University wiki encyclopedia/url
