ED Decisions come out earlier than Dec. 15?

I was going through old threads and apparently the ED decisions usually come out before December 15th. Do you guys think that they will this year? And do you want them to?

I'm going crazy waiting, but at the same time, I know my entire week will be derailed (i'm anticipating rejection/deferral) if they come earlier, and unexpectedly. Who else is going mad?? This process is just insane.

Past threads suggest that ED results come out on December 10, but I’m guessing that it may be different this year because this is Columbia’s first year on the Common App. I sure hope that they come on the 10th though. Earlier = better for me. I just want to be put out of my misery already!

click2, I feel you. These last two weeks have been the longest weeks of my life. I’ve lost a lot of sleep over thoughts of Columbia…

devibaby, you took the words right out of my mouth. it’s absolutely unbearable, all of this waiting. i want to invent time travel just for the purpose of fast forwarding to december 15th.

I feel you, wombat. It is quite unbearable indeed. And I’m sure all of our fellow EDers are in the same boat!

S just submitted his CSS Profile. Columbia’s ED/EA Decision date is listed 12-09-2010.

@ katCh614

Where did you find that decision release-date? (Link us?)

I’m going on a retreat the 9th-12th. One of my motivations for going was that it would relieve some of the stress of finding out about ED three days later. I sure hope the decision doesn’t come out while I’m away!!

Wish I could link it for you guys, but it won’t let me back in. It’s the page you get immediately after you submit your CSS Profile. Under ED/EA Decision Date, it listed 12-09-2010. Under that, there was a paragraph about how the school would release its decisions approximately around that time.

How are you guys dealing with the stress? I guess it’s been a long weekend, and I haven’t had much work, so I’ve been driving myself insane by searching up the old results threads. Ever since I did that though I’ve been going crazy, going over scenarios in my head of deferral and rejection!! I can’t believe we’re gonna be the ones in a few weeks posting stats and acceptances and rejections.

katCh614, maybe that’s only in relation to financial aid? I think Columbia’s website would say the general notification date for acceptance/rejection/deferral for ED is the 15th.

You might be right about that date being only for financial aid. Although, I’m thinking that might be a good indication of whether someone got accepted or not, cause Columbia wouldn’t offer/decline financial aid to someone who wasn’t accepted.

It depends on the volume of applications honestly. It will likely be a few days before the 15th, possibly the 10th but likely not the 9th. A week or two before the decision, they’ll send you an email and let you know when the decisions will be online. They’re usually posted on the website around 5 pm, but the site may easily go down around that time.
