Are you guys saying the notification will come via snail mail tomorrow or will be posted online tomorrow?

Notification, be it tomorrow, monday, tuesday or wednesday, will be posted on your TAMS account. Not sure if they will email us to let us know that there is a decision on TAMS, or if a snail mail package will come in the next week or two in addition to the online thing

Last year I got an email when the decisions were posted.

when did the email come?

last year they got the email during the day on Friday, December 12th

You’ll get an e-mail the instant decisions are available online. If you’re the sort who will want to know the INSTANT decisions are released, you need only keep an eye on your gmail/hotmail/whatever inbox.

In the past, we’ve tended to release decisions between 3-5pm (so as to minimize the disruption in a school day). Just FYI.

Well the Tufts ED notification is posted and I got a deferral to regular decision, despite a pretty strong application (I thought anyway), well matched to Tufts. Going to regular decision, you might as well say, we are really hoping for someone better, but we will dangle you along just in case.

what was your letter like travelicious? did it clearly say deferral?

ACCEPTED!!! So happy, I started crying. Good Luck to everyone that applied!

Congratulations shortstop5. Yes, my letter clearly said deferral, we will defer your application to RD.

oh ok travelicious, thank you. Unfortunately that means I was positively rejected. :'(

ACCEPTED!

I literally screamed in the library! fortunately it was Friday at 3:10 and there were only a few people there to see it!

To Travelicious----I’m sure you’re feeling stung right now and I don’t blame you, but I would not take the attitude that Tufts simply wants to see if someone better comes along. I’m sure Dan will address this issue on CC but also look at the Adcom blogs on Tufts’ website to see how seriously they make their deferral decisions—it sounds like there was just something that gave them pause about your application (and that they probably really wanted to accept you) and they’re hoping in time that that something will turn around in your favor (e.g., 1st semester grades). So stay positive even though I completely understand your disappointment. Here’s the link to the blog:

Well, thanks for the kind thoughts momiac, but with a 34 ACT and a 4.4 weighted GPA to date, I don’t think this is much room for improvement over that. My 1st semester senior grades are already all A’s as well (in all AP & honors classes), with good EC’s, etc. Maybe I will cure cancer tomorrow though. We will see if Dan addresses in a meaningful way. I doubt it, because these things are so subjective, it is hard to justify.

With stellar stats, I certainly understand your puzzlement and disappointment. Dan has, in another post, readdressed this perennial issue of what a Tufts deferral means and perhaps you can glean something from that. In any event, even though you’re disappointed, you are a very strong candidate and will have lots of options come April. And people often change their minds between the fall and spring so maybe you will have a different first choice in April and your deferral was just meant to be. But, as Dan emphasizes, when Tufts defers a candidate they nevertheless really liked that candidate. Best of luck.
