Nothing you guys say is going to dissuade me from applying to Duke ED, but I just wanted to get an idea of what my chances are since the anxiety of the application process is weighing heavily on me. I need a breather or a reality check.

Oh, and I want to pursue Global Health if that helps add to anything.

If anyone could offer any insight, it would be greatly appreciated. For the time being, I might as well post my course load so as to make sure this post isn’t completely useless.

Any opinions at all =P

nluu - I really am not the appropriate person to chance you but will tell you what little I know from 3 students who were in the IB program (also in SC).

All three had nearly 4.0 gpa’s. SAT - all scored between 1520-1570 (m +cr). All were Asian (Chinese). All were active in school activities but not to the extent that it seems you are.
All were on the Academic and Math teams. One was the co-captain and won several math awards. None were active in sports and two played an instrument. All did the community service required for IB but not a lot more.

They all graduated in the top 5 of their class of about 400. The HS is ranked low in the state schools.

All three applied RD because they wanted to see where they could get the best financial aid. All three were accepted. Two ended up going to Duke and one went to Yale.

My personal opinion is that you would have a good chance especially if you get the SAT score up but again I don’t know much. If you are set on Duke apply ED. Good Luck.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I’ll definitely try to get my SAT score up then. It really is one of the aspects of my application that is lacking.
