@ user 22…if you dont mind what were your SAT and school marks?

@quiverfox …any help regarding the stats for Pudue, UIUC, Texas Austin, Georgia tech, Minnesota and Wisconsin ?

techis

If you are planning for college, I suggest you start learning to do a bit of reasearch on your own. It will come in handy. And if you get stuck with your search or have doubts feel free to post them here.

@anialways- thanks for the info.

You are welcome techis. By the way I would like to add that it is commendable that you are interested in the stats. Trust me with college applications process, it is never too early. And the more research you put into it, the more likely you are to make a sound decision with your choice of college ‘fit’ list.

Adding to anialways…pls do look only for a rough match don’ look for a college with your SAT score at the 50th percentile…I would have been rejected at most of my places with that approach…and don’t go overboard saying that you got 100-150 points lesser on SAT 1 or greater w.r.t the college…never works that way. Work on your EC’s and carefully analyse the environment and the major you are searching for. You do NOT want to end up at the wrong place :p…All the best…Any doubts …pls post…we’ll help you out :)

@Anialways…is there any way of procuring scholarships from India itself…once we are selected to a college…UCB is pretty hefty :(

quiverfox

Yes indeed, college is really expensive in US.

Check out this link , see if you get help here,

[Scholarships for Indian Students Studying In USA - Study USA | LearnHub](http://studyusa.learnhub.com/lesson/11364-scholarships-for-indian-students-studying-in-usa)

I also want to say once you get there, on F-1 Visa you are allowed to do paid on-campus jobs in the first year and second year onwards, you can apply for off-campus jobs as well. Most off-campus jobs would require you to make yourself available for 20 hours a week. And according to what I know these pay 8 dollars upwards an hour. The Engineering students get paid better than others.

And apart from this you can also do peer tutoring and charge anything between 20-50 dollars an hour depending on how good you are with knowledge and imparting it effectively.

The Professors who are into research also have funds at their disposal and if you choose to work with them, that is another resource. For that you need to develop rapport with your professors.

Am getting links on search on google, you will have to go through each of them to see which one can actually help you. I am sorry if there is a duplication.

So this one looks interesting, how useful though tyou will have to see,

Found one more source

A piece of advice, Just save these links on your own computer before you start exploring the sites.

I think this a new one,

[International Student Scholarship Search](International Student Scholarship Search)

You will have to check each one individually and for some you need to write an esaay about 300 words.

Thank you soo much :D…great help!!! Yeah…essays will be okay cept balancing with my Mains and Advanced…stuff :)

@ techis

SAT Score (Single Highest Sitting) - 2130 (630, 700, 800)
Subject Tests : Math 1C-720 (UC’s don’t accept Math 1 though, so my advice- don’t give it.)
Literature-710

School Grades :
10th- 9 CGPA
11th- 82 %
12th mid term -85 %
(note my school is pretty competitive so 80+ is considered really good)

Do remember though, it’s not all about grades and scores. Your essays, I feel, will be the deciding factor at the end of the day.

No problem.

Hope this really is useful and you can actually get some help.

Blessings and good luck to you.

@Anialways - Great links! Thanks a lot for sharing them :D

All of you out there, you all are very welcome. Happy to help. May you all find what you are looking for land end up in a place that is a best fit for each one of you. And you will. Don’t worry. Do your Karma and you will find a way eventually, for some now, and for some postgrad. Either way it will be what is best for you.

@quiverfox - I’ve checked out quite a few websites… including the ones posted by anialways and there are practically 0 scholarships that EE/CE/CS students can apply for.

The only relevant engineering scholarship I found was that administered by the ACI. But that’s only meant for people interested in Cement :p

I think we can apply for rotary/Motorola etc scholarships…Im trying for those too.

The rotary one is now defunct it seems… did you get a relevant link??
