<p>@talwar - I applied for Civil Engineering. I want to do Chemical Engineering but they don’t offer that. That’s why I’m planning on passing up the offer.</p>

<p>@rishav - Yeah that was a bummer, I have to decide by the 14th.</p>
<p>That said, I’m still not very sure about this. I applied to HKU because I needed an Asian backup, but I would’ve liked to wait till at least the end of March to make my final decision. Is HKU worth it? The deposit is 10,000 HK$.</p>
<p>As of now, I’ve decided to attend the University of Minnesota as a ChemE major. If I do get into Cornell (which I’m not counting on), I’d still want to go to UMN. So I just need to decide if I want to pay the HKU deposit or not.</p>

<p>@heyjude22…your only loss will be 10000 HKD if you decide not to go. but surely you should not compromise on your course…if its chem your interested in then that’s what you should do…civil is a toatally diff genre!! And you already have a back up with UMN if not Cornell! Er btw a friend got into Cornell with much less (SATs and overall)last year…so be confident.</p>

<p>@heyjude - Which is your favourite university?? Can you afford it?? Ask these two questions to yourself. Make a list in decreasing order of preference. If HKU is not in the first 5/6 and you’ve already been accepted to the few of the first 5/6, then it’s simple - Don’t pay the HKU deposit!! :D</p>
