okay, just to clear things up for me once and for all, which is normally harder.. ED/EA or RD?. I know it depends on the school (especially since I've gotten such a wide-range of responses) but I'm just talking generally .. .

thanks.

ED/EA usually gives you an advantage at the highly selective schools.

thanks. .does anyone know about lower-tier schools..?

If you apply ED, its USUALLY easier to get in, because youre basically promising them your money. They are a lot more likely to accept and "less qualified" applicant knowing that they will pay full price for it. For EA, I would say its USUALLY harder. They want to take the best of the best and skim the top of applicants hoping that those kids will choose to go there and boost their reputation.

ED gives you a fairly big advantage. Unlses you're absolutely HYSM caliber, one would be hard pressed NOT to apply Early Decision to a top choice college.
