Can I apply BOTH ED to 1 school And EA to some other schools?
For example, I'm planning to apply ED to Bates College, plus apply EA to Dickinson College
Do schools ED/EA policies allow this?
because it's quite a common sense that students like to increase their chances by apply as under many plans to many schools as possible, rite?

*Remark: I'm specific at Bates, Dickinson, Conncoll and Trinity because those are schools i'm considering for ED + EA

It depends on the schools’ individual policies. For example, I know Boston College and Georgetown let you apply to other schools EA, but not ED, so you probably want to check out each school’s individual website to find out their own policy.

^ ED is Early Decision which means you have to go the college you applied for ED
EA is Early Action which means you have a better chance of getting into that college but it doesn’t mean you necessarily HAVE to the college.

ED is a binding application; you can only apply to 1 school ED and if you’re accepted there you HAVE to go, unless they don’t give you suffcient FA. The confusing part is that some ED schools only allow you to apply to that 1 school early (like Brown). But others allow you to additionally apply to EA schools (liek Columbia). EA is really no different from RD, you just get a decision sooner/submit the app earlier. Except for SCEA schools like Yale/Stanford, you can apply to as many EA schools as you want.

How will they know if you get rejected from the school you ED to? And if you get accepted to the school you ED to, then what is BC/ Georgetown going to do about it?

yes. with ED you commit to the school when you send in your application. the only way you can get out of it is if you prove you cant pay for it or something like that.
