ED-ers: Withdrawing all the other applications...

For all the ED accepted CC-ers out there,
Did you already start withdrawing applications?

I already sent request to withdraw my MIT and Vanderbilt applications. However, I want to make sure that before I finish all the withdrawals that I am approaching this process the right and polite way.

Are you all sending emails as requests? Or calling? Or mailing a letter request?
(I emailed and plan to call in the next few days to verify)

Also, for the schools that have already received forms like Teacher Recommendations and Secondary School Reports (but NOT the actual application), are you all going to email those schools?

Thanks

On the same topic (but not quite), how do I go about withdrawing my application from PENN? I believe everything is in (recs, transcripts etc.) except my application itself. I emailed webmaster@ugao.upenn.edu and info@admissions.upenn.edu, haven't got any replies yet. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

is i necessary to withdraw? cant we just leave it and if accepted, not go? i dont see the point in withdrawing.

Lolz I'm so glad I refrained from other apps. until I heard from Penn XD

Hehe, I love my ED school so much that I can't wait to withdraw my other apps.

i'm worrying that since some--actually a LOT lol--of colleges have my recs and school reports on file, i should tell them so by the january deadline they won't start emailing me and saying, "we still haven't received the application" yet.

also, the whole binding early decision says we have to immediately withdraw. for right now i'm withdrawing all the ones i've already sent out everything, but still not sure about the "incomplete" apps.

Withdraw the incomplete ones, too. You'll save yourself the aggravation of the e-mails, and you'll save the admissions staff at those schools from having to review the file periodically so they can send you the e-mails.

It's only courteous to do so.

jf;dlsajlk my guidance counselor sent out the rest of my transcripts/recs/school reports AFTER i found out from penn because she said I needed "safety schools" in case anything drastic happened.

...........................................

Your counselor is wrong. You committed to withdrawing your applications; you need to do so. Otherwise, you've drastically increased the chances that something will go wrong - Penn will not take kindly to your flouting your agreement.

You can withdraw your other apps without your counselor's permission.

Oh, I know, I have. I was under the impression that it's illegal to not withdraw...

But regardless I have emailed all the other schools. I was just shocked that she would tell me that.

do we need to withdraw if we've only sent in SAT scores and NOTHING else whatsoever??

What's so hard about sending an e-mail? Why not just be courteous and do it?

If you want a full answer, then YES, you should withdraw (or at least tell them you will not be applying).

Emailed my regional director at Penn (or at least the person who would've been my regional director had I completed the application). App withdrawn!

how about this...

(1) i was going to apply to johns hopkins using their online application. i made an account, but i never sent in any forms (recs, transcript). even though they have absolutely nothing, they emailed me 2 days ago saying that they haven't received anything yet, lol.
should i still contact them?

also
(2) who is better to email to, the actual admissions email, or the email address of my application processor?

thanks.

If you are accepted somewhere and you know you'll be attending, withdraw your apps from other schools. You are only stealing a spot from someone else who really wants it (when you know you won't attend). Not to mention its a lot more work for the admissions office.

i have e-mailed, called, and/or mailed all of the schools that i need to withdraw from.

however, there might be a slight delay on some of the withdrawals processing because of the holidays. i assume everyone else is experiencing the same thing?

yea, same here. i think i'm going to call and email all of them, and if they withdraw via phone, i'll ask them to email me confirmation.

at least that's what one school did for me.

i'm just a bit stressed because most admission offices are closed right now :(
