Hi !!! I just want someone to please help me out with my admission chances. I applied to LMU undecided liberal arts because i truly have no idea what i want to do. i have a gpa of 3.52 and an act of 27. i come from a midwestern jesuit school with rigorous academics and a newly changed grading scale to make it easier (hence the low gpa, i had the hard grading scale freshman-junior year).
i got a 3.3 my 1st semester sophomore year and after that i got a 3.7 second semester, 3.8 first semester junior year, and 3.7 second semester. i’m taking all honors classes except math and art and AP macro and AP environmental this year. i played volleyball all four years and was on varsity for three of the years. i play travel volleyball year round. i do service work a lot and even am involved in a class at my school where we go and volunteer at an autisic school a couple times a week. my common app essay was about becoming independent after my mom had a brain tumor surgery and how i became closer to God during that time. I also have a youtube and make videos/edits in my free time and even made one from my school this past fall that i added the link to in my common app essay. i have seven older siblings who all attended a jesuit high school and a jesuit college and one of them attended the LMU school of engineering. please help and let me know !!! also does lmu send out decisions via email or mail ?!
Your GPA is right about that of the average person admitted to LMU, from what I’ve researched online and heard from various admissions staff members, if not even a few points higher so I don’t think you should be too worried about that. And the average ACT score is also about a 27, so you are right on the median for accepted students. I do think that your extra-curriculars and relation to a current student will help boost your application as well as your common app essay if it was well written. I’m not sure if you applied Early Decision or Early Action, but if was ED, although they do not like to admit it, your chances are mathematically even higher. I don’t think you should worry about getting in because it seems as if you are qualified enough to be admitted. As for the decision, you will be getting an email saying “Your application status has been changed” and you will be linked back to the same portal you should’ve had access to since directly after you submitted your application. Here you will find instructions on how to find out your decision and if accepted (which you most likely will be) you will find out more information on how to send a deposit if you applied ED or about accepting the offer if you applied EA. If ED, you will receive this email sometime this week (Before December 1st) and will find out about financial aid by Mid-December. If you applied EA, you will receive the email within the first two weeks of December usually (before December 20th) and will find out about financial aid promptly after. Hope this helped, this is the most specific I can be with the information available on various websites as well as testimonials of the Class of 2021 and with speaking with people who work in admissions. Good luck!
Thank you so much for your response! I did apply Early Decision because LMU is most definitely my top choice school and I cannot wait to hear back about whether or not I got in. Your response was so helpful, thank you so much! Have a great night
I also applied ED to LMU! I have a 4.0, 28 ACT (33 English, 35 Reading, 19 Math & 26 Science). I attended their Open House and a few events over the past 3 months; they told me that ED will receive their decisions by December 1 through email! Looking back at past threads here on CC, it seems like they don’t mail them either. Good luck to you, hope we both get in!
