You have mediocre chances. Your scores are on the low side. Your ecs are typically Asian.

“Partcipant of AMC12”
no one needs to know that unless you had a super high score and/or were invited to the AIME.

“I want to apply to CAS as a chem major.”
This sentence is ironic for two reasons:

 1. There is no undergrad school at Columbia abbreviated as CAS. Please cut the penn lingo out.
 2. Your intended major is chemistry, but that choice is not backed up by anything. You got a 700 on the SAT chem and a below-average 2 on the AP. How will admissions know that you can handle the chem work at Columbia?

Good luck nonetheless.

^actually I just remembered that you can use score choice. For the love of god do not submit those chemistry scores.
(columbia accepts score choice right?)

I will have to agree with Epaminondas… the only thing that may make you stand out is the summer internship, as long as it turns into a long term relationship where that professor may be able to vouch for your research skills and want to work with you further.

Other than that, your scores are average and your ecs are also typical for any ivy league school. Then again, apply ED and your chances will be higher!

Don’t ED if your dream is penn, unless you can demonstrate enough need to be exempted from the break of contract fee. Both penn and columbia accept about 23% from their ED applicant pool.

Also, how do you know that many AP scores already? Have you already taken 7 AP’s before your junior year? That’s pretty frightening.

^I believe the ED acceptance rate for Columbia College this year was approximately 17%.

yeah, I think the stat I was looking at were from a year or so ago. Still, my point stands. It’s a significant advantage at both schools.

just out of curiosity, why do you want to major in chem when your chem ap and sat grades are not as good as your other subjects?
