ED for Johns Hopkins Chance!

<p>Hello guys i am wondering what are my chances forJohns hopkins- ED
I am applying engineering- undecided</p>

<p>Grades:
My gpa is a 3.5 UW (around 91)- my school has a weird system of doing the GPA its out of 4.3 and this is considered around a 91 average. </p>

<p>9th grade:
English- B
Global history: A
Geometry: A-
Biology: A-
Spanish: A-</p>

<p>10th grade:
Global history 2: A+
Allgebra 2- trig- A
Chemistry H- A-
Spanish 2- A-
English- B</p>

<p>11th grade:
English- B
AP US history- A-
AP art history- B+
Pre Calc H- A-
Physics H- A-
Spanish 3- A-</p>

<p>12th grade- first quarter-
AP Calculus BC- A
AP Economics- A
AP Physics- A-
AP Government- A-
College Writing- B+</p>

<p>I took the most difficult course load my school offers other than the honors english classes.</p>

<p>school:
My school is dual curriculum. I go to a private Jewish school and also have Jewish studies in my curriculum. I have double the amount of subjects than other schools have. Since i go to a small school with only around 40 people per grade, my school does not offer any AP classes until junior year.</p>

<p>MY English is a B due to a disability in English. I have resource room privileges and time and a half. I will explain to the schools that i apply to that it is because of my disability that i got a B in english in most of my years. </p>

<p>Standardized testing:
I got a 32 on my ACT a
Section scores-
35 science
31 math
34 reading
27 English</p>

<p>SAT2's
Biology M- 700
Math 1- 730</p>

<p>Community service-
Worked with a autistic child for 2 years for 60 hours in total for 2 years
Went to a program in israel where i did community service there and got 75 hours for it
Went on a program in my local community center got 50 hours for that
Did various community service opportunities with my school such as ushering plays
Taught basketball to autistic children in a program</p>

<p>Extracurriculars-
Matheletes- 9,10,12
Hockey- 9, 10, 11, 12
Soccer- 10, 11, 12
Mock Trial- 9, 10, 11, 12
Piano- ever since elementary school. Did Nyssma piano until the highest level
Singing- got into all county choir 9, 10, 11, 12. Did Nyssma until the highest level
My piano and singing are the most important extracurriculars that i have and i stressed that a lot in my application.
Plan on getting a job for senior year
Was on chess club in 9th grade.</p>

<p>I think it will be difficult, maybe a low reach. Your academics are slightly low, but you look like you have some good extracirriculars. You are applying ED, however, so it’s possible that you will get a slight boost. If you wrote some really good, passionate essays, then I think you have a shoot. Good luck!</p>

<p>ok, ur ACT is perfect just about what JHU needs. ur GPA will DEFINATELY hurt u as well as ur ECs cause they r wayyy tooo ordinary and u dont hold any positions. also ur academic rigor during ur junior year (the most important year of high school) is weak. so ur chances r slim. im sorry, i hate to be that dousche who is mean, but im sure u like to hear reality than just fluff to make u feel better.</p>

<p>I made a mistake on my ACT i got a 36 on science- not a 35</p>

<p>@goblin: I think the OP’s course load is fairly rigorous. If his school isn’t known for offering tons of AP courses, it’s definitely competitive.</p>

<p>JHU is a reach for most people, but your ECs and test scores are strong so I think you have a shot. I think the GPA is the weakest part of your application, so for that reason it’s a reach. I still think you’ve got a good shot though. Good luck!</p>

<p>Johns Hopkins is a bit tough to get into. Seems as though your grades are all better in the Math and Science areas; that will surely help you out. </p>

<p>hmmm low reach i’d think. just use advantages to your strengths i.e. english. community service is good tho. test scores/grades lower than JHU admit, but hopefully ex-curicular will help you. good luck!</p>

<p>Your grades look pretty good considering if you really took the most difficult course load. Also your ACT is pretty good too! I’d say a match just because Johns Hopkins is so prestigious and competitive, but ya never know, those extra curricular activities might make you shine :slight_smile:

2.)ECs a little ordinary, but also not. Does that make sense?
