Ed i 2015 accepted

I am so thrilled for all of you! Congratulations! My sophomore daughter deeply loves her Smith experience and I wish for you the same.

hey !!
congrattulatttionnsss !
I am an international student !and I want to apply to smith under the early decision II plan .
I want to know how were your scores(toefl and SAT), and how much money they gave you ??

Is there any girl who has been accepted even though her grades were not that good ???
If yes, I really need to talk to her !!!

houdada–

I was accepted ED and my grades were definitely not great.

Congratulations to everyone who got in! I’m applying RD (financial reasons) and hope to join you all in the fall. To everyone who got in: what were your stats?

I’m proud of my stats, but definitely wary of posting them because I really don’t want anyone to be discouraged by the stats the accepted CC ED kids have. People who post on CC typically have higher grades than normal, and this is self selection. Volunteer bias does not a good study make. I think if you’re seriously considering Smith then your stats are probably mostly all in order. I don’t see many kids with 2.0 averages posting Chance Me threads for Smith. Smith doesn’t seem to be so oriented on numbers anyway.

Judging by stats posted on other college sites (their names are censored on here, ahaha) the average student has an 85-88 UW GPA (no idea what that translates to in 4.0). I think course rigor is valued quite a bit. An 85 in all easy, basic classes is no where near as impressive as an 85 with AP cores.

Also, only 21% of the first year class is full. There is only around 35% yield (woman’s college). They’re probably going to be accepting quite a few people during RD round. Though admittedly a large amount of self selection does tend to happen with women’s colleges, I think. Just based off the incredibly awesome, intelligent ED Smithies I’ve met on facebook, haha. : ) But yeah, I’m not sure that they can afford to be too selective about stats with the low yield and relatively low first year class size already filled (in comparison to other similar LACs)

Showing that you’re really interested in the school might make up for stats that you consider sub par, what with the issues with yield. For RD I do think it’s very important to interview and visit campus just once, to show that Smith isn’t a rash safety. And that you do at least know Smith isn’t co-ed, ahaha.

Best of luck. : )

OH GOD THIS IS A RANT.

Thank you for that post! It made me feel a bit better. Yeah, I’ve noticed that a lot of people on CC have really high stats. It’s quite intimidating, even though I know that’s a very small amount of people applying overall. I’ve visited campus and whatnot, though I won’t have a chance to interview before it’s over.

Sorry to derail the thread, but again: congrats to all who were accepted ED! I’m jealous :).

Welcome class of 2015!
