Well, seing as we are only about a week away from hearing back the status of our EdI applications, I figured it would be appropriate to make a thread congratulating and conglomerating all of the admitted commodores. So, if you get in through early decision, or if you get in on regular decision and are going to go to vandy, post here, please no thread jacks or anything, want to keep this one as clean as possible so we can see who all the new commodores will be, I will use this oppurtunity to say good luck to everyone and this thread should be a good indication of who fared well in this early decision wave.

Also if you're admitted or rejected please just give a very brief summary of your stats just to give people who haven't received their letters an idea of who's being admitted early. I know it's probably painful to boil your entire high school career down to a few lines but put it in a format similar to this:
GPA:
Rigor of Secondary School Record:
SAT:
Essay (Excellent/Good/Fair/Poor)
ECs(Excellent/Good/Fair/Poor)
Reccomendations(Excellent/Good/Fair/Poor)

By doing so you'll help keep this from turning into another annoying "What are my Chances!?!?" Discussion. If you don't want to post Stats that's cool too. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

Good luck everyone!

i just wanted to post my stats to give a different perspective from all the 4.0's i'm seeing! haha

-GPA: 3.45/4.0 unweighted
-very rigorous school, one of the most rigorous in dallas and in the US; doesn't offer tons of AP's so i have taken about 6 total honors/ap classes
-SAT: 2160 (but 1370 / 1600) and no ACT
-essay: excellent. heck, i took probably 4 months to write that thing. and TCU gave me some sort of recognition for having an outstanding essay...i don't really know the official name for it, but anyways...
-ECs: excellent. I'm an editor on the newspaper, a committee head on the community service board, I dance, and I've initiated several com. serv. programs. I'm in Amnesty Int'l and started my own club, and I've won an NSPA award for an editorial I wrote.
-Recs: good to excellent. I have not seen my teacher recs, but my employer (from a summer internship) wrote me an incredible rec.

sorry this is a bit long. i guess i should add that my parents both went to vanderbilt, so that probably helped...BUT they didn't pull any strings. so, good luck everyone! you will all end up at great places, i'm sure!

ACCEPTED

Hi...I got accepted early decision...I was just wondering what type of GPA we need to maintain...I posted on the vandy blog but it didn't tell me quite what I wanted. I am a straight A student, only have received one B. However, I am in 6 AP classes this year and senioritis has definitely kicked in. If I get B's in these classes...do they count as A's? With straight B's I will still have a weighted GPA of 4.0...I'm not expecting all B's but who knows.

You're not going to get kicked out, don't worry. Just relax, but continue to work hard. You're fine.
