I have recieved my letter, and I live in MD. Most who live within a state or two from DC got it today. Otherwise, you should receive it tomorrow… First class mail is 1-3 days. So yall who live in MA should get it tomorrow
just got mine in MA today!!!
I received my letter today! I already knew I got accepted but was waiting for financial aid. I know a lot of people say American is bad with financial aid, but considering my situation I actually got a fairly good amount from the school!
I got my letter today! I’m from NH
Does anyone know when they put it out electronically or on the prospective student portal? I checked online and have seen nothing, not rejection, deferral, or acceptance so super nervous. Thanks in Advance.
Hey Guys! What are your stats for those of you who got accepted EDI??
So… who else applied EDII??? I’m super nervous!!
The wait is killer.
Yes!! Same, I just really want to know!
Still waiting,
By the way, I was told that allegedly acceptance rates for people who go test optional is only around 25%? Haven’t found any evidence though, anyone else go the same route as me?
Thanks
@Delcore I applied test optional I didn’t know there was a lower acceptance I wonder how many applicants they have for EDII
@zz213121, I wasn’t saying there was or wasn’t a lower acceptance rate for ED II or test-optional applicants, I was asking a question.
My question is based upon a statement I read here on CC stating the following:
“Oh (his/her daughter), she told me AU accepts only 25% of kids who apply w/out scores, even though ED is 80%, so not sure how that math works, lol.”
I’ll also add that because the person didn’t specify whether the daughter meant RD/ED, the statement even seems more uncertain since I personally couldn’t find any evidence to support such claim. Anyhow, if anyone does have any evidence to support what’s been said, I’d be all ears.
Hope that helped clear things up.
Has anyone gotten a response for ED II yet?
For EDI, letters were out and people started getting phone calls on December 20th (nearly 10 days before Dec31 which was the results day for EDI). My guess is that since our date is Feb15, some of us might start getting phone calls on Feb 6th (since Feb 5 is a Sunday)
@Delcore I think I’m the one you quoted, lol. My friends D got in ED1. My D applied RD. My friend researched this to death, they flew up to DC from SC at least 4 times. If she found these stats, you can bank on them. I just am not too, sure what it means, lol. She is the friend I refer to in the quote.
All due respect, I can’t really ‘bank’ on what I can’t see.
I went ahead and googled American University’s ‘Common Data Set’ which displays all of the statistics on students who applied RD and ED. The information is available in section C. Here is the publication:
https://www.american.edu/provost/oira/upload/CDS_2015-2016-for-publication.pdf
Nowhere is there any information indicating the stats for test-optional students who are granted admission, nor does it indicate any test-optional admittance stats for RD or ED. These are also the most official stats from 2016. Now I don’t know where your friend got her information or math from but the numbers published clearly show that around 702 out of 805 who applied (regardless of test option) were admitted. This works out to about an 87% acceptance rate for ED.
With that said, please don’t take my skepticism the wrong way. I’m sure your friend and her daughter only had positive intentions on sharing the information, but since this is the only data I could locate, I’d have to trust this over what your friend’s comment. My best guess is that the 25% she mentioned probably apply more to RD, not ED. On a site like this flooded with so much pessimism and confusion, solid evidence is the best gift anyone can give.
Cheers!
@Delcore No worries! Of course you don’t know my friend & how anal she is, to me, I can “bank” on it but true, can’t expect anyone else to. She reasearched & met with admissions many times & even though her D got in ED, those stats might have been for RD, I have no idea. All I can add is that she needed a test optional school & honed in on AU. Her D loved it, they need no aid so she felt that would help her D get accepted & it may have.
My D almost applied ED2 but as she was closer on stats to AU, chose to use her ED2 at another school but did apply to AU RD in case she doesn’t get in her ED school. This is when my friend encouraged me with her stats, lol. 80+ ED % is pretty damn great.
My admissions officer said they’re sending letters out the week of the 15th!
What were your stats?
I am so anxious to hear back from American? What were everyone’s stats? I’m from Florida with a 35 of the ACT and a weighted 4.452 and unweighted 3.865. I was on my school’s speech and debate team as well as founded my own non-profit. I do various other extracurricular activities, but I’m worried about acceptance and the honor program. I know they only accept 20 students each year and I applied for that and the FDDS program. When do you guys think they’ll start making calls?
