Hey all!

Thanks for taking the time to read my thread and help me out.
1) I was just wondering if it was possible to change my status from RD over to ED II even though I've already sent in my Preliminary Application?

2) Also, would you guys think ED II gave me a better shot?
I know Pomona is absolutely my #1 choice, but I was afraid I wouldn't get enough financial aid to attend and was worried that if by some miracle I do get in, then it'd be binding and hard on my parents.

3) And finally, I've heard opinions from several people including my counselor that schools know ED II is for people who didn't get in ED I elsewhere and just want EDII to another school as backup. Would you say this is true for Pomona? I don't know how else to express my interest besides in the interview, as I haven't had time to visit...

Thanks again!!

P.S. No I didn’t apply ED I to any schools :] I just needed more time for my application unfortunately, and one of my teachers had a death in the family so he could not finish my letter of Rec. after being gone most of October

I would guess…

1) yes, I imagine the admissions office would allow this, so just call and ask them

2) yes, I think it would give you a slight advantage. But it is still binding, so that needs to be considered. However, Pomona is known for being very fair about financial aid. This is something your parents really need to be on board with.

3) that’s been said on this forum, too. It stands to reason that the admissions folks might think they’re the backup school, but I doubt they would let that influence them too heavily. However, if you care it might make sense to have your counselor’s letter explain why you didn’t do EDI. And having an interview is a great way to show interest.

Good luck!
