ED II Applicants!

I want to know all the 36 of us who got in! We must feel special and celebrate because out of 700 kids, we’re the lucky ones <3 So invite me in facebook, seach for me Lars Sebastian… Once we do one of those student meeting things, we’ll have our own little celebration :D

Congratd xcrunner0401! I applied EDII, but haven’t received my letter yet (so naturally I’m curious as hell and dying of anxiety). Could you post like, when you received the letter and where you live? I’m in DC and were going through that freak snowstorm so I have no idea when it’s coming

thanks  i received my later yesterday and i’m from new jersey. it’ll be probably be there tomorrow! cross fingers, hopefully you’re one of the lucky 36!! :D

My fingers have been glued in the crossed position for like a month lol. Hope we’re future classmates!

i hope so too! if you do get it, don’t forget to invite me in facebook, because i really want to meat the super 36 :D

For ED I, 36% of the applicants were admitted (184/510), but only 18% (36) of the 200 ED II kids got in. With that many admitted ED I, it’s good for the ED II applicants that Bowdoin is making up more of the incoming class through ED (45% of class of '14 vs. 41% of class of '13). S is waiting for his letter and is hoping for good news. We had no mail delivered yesterday because of the storm, so it should be here Monday. Congrats to you, xcrunner0401!

I’m pretty sure that ED II acceptance rate is 5%, well at least according to the two articles they published.

Terrible odds for ED II applicants, if only 5% were accepted. Congratulations to those who made it!

I made it! Thanks
But yea, it’s terrible. I wish I was lying but it says it on their articles, you just need to do some mental math.

5% admit rate for EDII can’t be right. That would mean there were 720 EDII apps. From what I read, Bowdoin received about 700 TOTAL ED apps (EDI plus EDII). Usually, the number of EDII apps is less than half the number of EDI apps.

Yeah I was about to say the same thing sunmachine. I was trying to find the exact numbers/article and didn’t have success, but the ED acceptance rate is definitely no where near only 5 percent for EDII applicants. That still doesn’t take away my anxiety at all.

Bowdoin received about 500 EDI apps: [ED I apps projected to rise by five percent](http://orient.bowdoin.edu/orient/article.php?date=2009-11-20&section=1&id=1)

My guess is they received about 200 EDII apps, for a total of about 700. That would put the EDII acceptance rate at around 18%.

The articles I saw in the Bowdoin Orient said that for ED I there were 510 applications and 184 were accepted: [Admissions accepts 36% in ED I](http://orient.bowdoin.edu/orient/article.php?date=2009-12-11&section=1&id=2) and that a total of 220 were admitted through ED I and II (220-184= 36 ED II admits). [ED II, reg decision apps up, diversity also on the rise](http://orient.bowdoin.edu/orient/article.php?date=2010-02-05&section=1&id=2). Also from the articles, and doing a little arithmetic: 6010 total applications - 510 ED I applications - 5300 RD applications = 200 ED II applications. 36/200= 18% admission rate for ED II.

Math is not my strong suit, but I didn’t see anything saying 5%, and this is what I came up with from those articles. I’d be the first to acknowledge the possibility of error when it comes to my working with numbers! Bottom line, though, whether it’s 5%, 18% or something in between, an ED II acceptance is something to be proud of! Any acceptance by Bowdoin is.

^^
Right you are!

This year’s ED applications/admits numbers (220/710= 31%) are pretty much in line with those of the past few years. For incoming 2009, it was 209/693 (or maybe 208/694 --saw it two different ways), or about 30%. For 2008, 207/690 = 30%. For 2007, 211/710=30%. The % of the class made up from ED has varied a bit: 2007 44%, 2008 42%, 2009 41%, 2010 about 45%.

I think whatever you guys are saying makes more sense. I don’t want to feel special by saying that it was only 5% acceptance rate. It’s just in the beginning of the ED II article it said that the total number of Jan. 1 (Both ED II and RD) applicants is 6000 something and at the end, it said that RD applicants are 5300, so I thought that ED II applicants is 700. But I guess, it that I read it wrong. But regardless, I got in to Bowdoin ED II, I’m one of the 36! :D

xcrunner – If my S, also in NJ, finds out he’s one of the fortunate EDII 36, I’ll definitely let him know to get in touch!

I applied RD…excited to hear soonish!

Would you ED acceptees mind posting your stats?

oh please do! I love to know who the lucky 36 are! :D

My stats? MMM…
My GPA is 4.633.
I didn’t send my scores.
I did an hour interview.
EC: I ran for 4 years, and I did the play. Nothing extraordinary.
Hook: I’m gay, first generation college student, and my beastly essay. I think that’s about it.

The acceptance rate for ED2 looks to be about 18%. There were 200 ED1 applications submitted (710 total ED applications - 510 ED1 applications = 200). There were 36 ED2 acceptances (220 total ED acceptances - 184 ED1 acceptances = 36 ED2 acceptances). 36 ED2 acceptances/200 ED2 applications= 18%. It’s about the same as Bowdoin’s overall acceptance rate was last year but it is a much lower acceptance rate than for ED1 (36%). .
