<p>I’m curious…does the NPC make it clear that there is only ONE adult in the home? Or is that vague? For instance, if the way the NPC asks questions (Family of 3, 1 in college), could it have assumed that there are 2 parents, one child? If so, then that’s the cause of the discrepancy. Adults “cost more” in a family so they’re given a larger exemption. </p>

<p>If there are no loans in the package, then take the direct student loans that are available. Freshmen can borrow up to 5,500, so that will cover the difference between what you are able to pay and what you need.</p>
