ED II Chances?

Hi everybody, congrats on getting accepted to American a few days ago! I will be applying ED II, so hopefully I will be joining you next year. I have a 1170 SAT scores, but I’m still debating test-optional. Do you think that CR + M score can hurt me more than it could help? Also, my admissions rep said he was going to use my weighted GPA because of the school I go to, so he will be seeing a 3.83 GPA or so (I don’t know how my senior year semester will affect my gpa yet.) I have a moderate amount of extracurriculars and I assume I have good recommendations. Also, I have tried my best to show a lot of interest in American. I have been emailing back and forth with my admissions rep. and am applying ED II. I also drove to American during Thanksgiving Break for a campus tour. The drive took 16 hours straight!! I know a chance thread is not guaranteed, but I’m just looking for some feedback. Hopefully I can get in because this has been my dream school since I was little. Thanks everybody!

I applied ED I (test optional) and was accepted. From what I have read and experienced, showing interest is a large component of the application and the admissions reps take your interest into consideration when selecting students. As for my grades, my high school has a weighed (7.0) and unweighed (4.0) gpa scale and I had a 6.2/7 and a 3.9/4. Feel free to PM if you have any additional questions. Good luck!!!

I applied ED I (test optional) and was accepted also. Agree with jrch24, you’ll be fine.
Focus on the essays. Keep in contact with your rep.
Good luck, hope to see you in the fall.

I applied ED 1, was accepted, and submitted my test scores. I had a 32 ACT and my weighted gpa was 3.8/5.0 and unweighted 3.2/4.0.

My admissions rep informed me that essays are some of the most important factors, so I would just work really hard on those. With your grades I don’t see why you wouldn’t get in.

Good luck!

Washcaps08 - My suggestion is to apply test optional. Good luck!

I was admitted ED 1 and my CR + M SAT composite was 1110 610(reading) + (500) math and I had a max composite of a 25 ACT It’s definitely not the best score… but I did NOT do test optional. My GPA was okay and I just focused heavily on my essays and showing interest. I also had great community service. My advice is don’t do test optional… but it’s ultimately up to you! Goodluck! :-)

Gm… Did you get a scholarship if you don’t mind me asking?
