Okay, I'm a little confused. I've heard that some ED II applicants have heard back already, but CMU is insisting they won't come out until January 15th. Has anyone ED II heard? If so, when?

I haven't heard back but in the ED thread, one ED II person got deferred. What's going on? Maybe we have to wait.

I applied ED 2 and have not received a decision.

Has anyone heard?

I haven't received a decision yet. I guess we will hear within the next week or so.

Accepted to IS, I cannot believe it!

02-jan-2008 Early Decision Notification

Hey, i just got my official rejection letter. It says:

"If your academic interests change, however, you may apply to other undergraduate colleges within the university for Fall 2008 consideration. Please notify us if that is your intention."

That's pretty sweet -- has anyone heard about this? Would I have to write more essays?

I don't think you were rejected then. What the letter says seems like you got deferred and your decision will be reviwed again in regular decision. I am not sure tho. Read the letter over again and see if you can find something. By the way, when did they review your application? I applied to ED II as well and still havent heard back. My "Where Am I in Process" thing says that they pulled and read my application on december 28th. Those who got their decisions, could you post when they reviewed your application? thanks

No, I was definitely rejected:

"Due to the nature of the competition for admission, we have determined that your ultimate admission is unlikely. As a result, we will not defer your application to the regular decision review later this spring."

My pull came on Dec. 12 and they sent the letter on Dec. 26.

Sorry to hear about the rejections! I've yet to receive my decision. Is there any notification on the "Where Am I In the Process?" page that would indicate an acceptance or denial.

Yes, there is. It's in the table listing the college you applied to.

Preference College Department Program Decision
1 IS IS Accept

That's what mine says.

The Program and Decision column is still blank for me.

I applied to Information Systems as well. If you don't mind me asking, what is your GPA/SAT's?

Thanks

SAT I: 600 W/ 720 M/ 580 CR (yes, there's hope for everyone)
SAT II: 700 Biology / 720 Math IC
GPA: 95
Rank: 3/236

ECs: newspaper, web site, spirit night, youth group, golf, intramural football, NHS, distinguished scholars, some other random ones. Not a ton of leadership. I have a lot of work experience including management of a small web hosting company and freelance web design.

Essays: excellent. I believe these saved me as I showed a huge passion for information systems/technology as a whole. I participated in the PA Governor's School of Excellence for IST and then attended PA free enterprise week. A mix of business, technology and some art.

Recommendations: excellent, they really portrayed who I was. I believe that they gave the adcoms a glimpse of my character with anecdotal evidence.

White male from PA. I attend a catholic school.

I had little faith in being accepted to CMU, yet I made it. This truly shows that it is not all about SAT scores. There's a lot more to it.

We'll see. I got a 2070 on the SAT's (690 W, 720 CR, 660 M) but I have an 87 average. There's an obvious upward trend, but I clearly did not put in enough effort during my freshman and sophomore years. My essays are great, though. I don't know how many other students were able to turn their interest in technology into a successful business.

I'm happy to hear you're in. It's somewhat encouraging.

For anyone else who got rejected ED:
I just spoke to the admissions office on the phone; to apply to any other school, all you have to do is fax in a letter indicating what schools you want to apply to. No more essays are required.
