ED II Emory chance? Would really appreciate it!

Any feedback is truly appreciated!

I am a Hispanic female and will be a first- generation college student. I will also be applying in-state and would like to pursue a career in healthcare administration. I don’t want to come off as the generic pre-professional student so when the school asks for a student’s academic “interests” on the common app. would it be better to list sociology as my first interest ( which I hope to minor in) or business management? or does this not really matter?

Thank you again!!

Are you aware that Emory has an undergraduate business school? You can’t apply until you have three semesters under your belt. But the point is that ‘business’ is a legitimate major/area of interest as far as Emory is concerned. There’s no reason to try and game the system but expressing an interest in another area. Ultimately it probably doesn’t matter very much.

It would of course help to raise those SAT scores a bit, but you’ve got a great transcript having taken a rigorous course load, and you’ll appropriately be given a good look as a first-generation student. I think you have an excellent shot.

No, just put business there. It is one thing to have 1 million pre-meds that will be stuck in an arts and sciences (liberal arts) unit of a school and another for pre-business people to actually go on to the business school. Also, you should never really hide the interest, even if it lessens uniqueness. There are other ways to academic and intellectual versatility than through your choice of intended major and those can come out in the list of EC’s and essays for example.

I appreciate the insight thank you!

Current Emory freshman here. Your stats (especially GPA) are pretty solid. However like someone above mentioned raise your test scores

Good chances for Emory, but for ED II not so much. You will be deferred and possibly accepted RD. Get that ACT to 29+ and you will have much better chances.
