ED II - Is it even worth it?

Is it worth it to apply ED II? CMUs published acceptance rate is lower ED than it is RD. The admit rate from 2009 is ~29% for ED and 38% for RD.

Does that mean a ED applicant would probably be accepted in the RD pool too?

Considering that CMU's class is composed of 18% in ED. (Though ED applicant pool is only around 6% of the RD pool), what benefits are there to applicants in ED?

Does it serve those in more competitive majors better? (SCS, CIT, Tepper?)

The advantage of meeting aid to the EFC is certainly helpful, but ED II pretty much negates the benefit of knowing a lot sooner, since a student still needs to apply to other schools.

Don’t play the numbers game-- if CMU is really your top choice and you don’t need financial aid - apply.
You have nothing to loose- as you can reapply RD under a different school.

ED for SCS is very unlikely -.

Thanks.

I’m not going to apply based off numbers, but it does help me prioritize. Could you elaborate for the ED for SCS is unlikely? SCS itself is unlikely, but what makes it especially so for ED?
