Hey CC,
I applied ED I to a school and the outcome is obviously pending. While I was waiting I already sent off my app to NYU ED II. I'm wondering if this matters or is illegal and will be frowned upon by my ED I school and if I should cancel my app to NYU.

You cannot send in a 2nd ED application while your first is pending. What if they both accept you? then what? I am surprised your counselor signed off on that 2nd one. EDII deadlines are late enough that you usually know the results of your ED application. Why did you send it in so early?

why would it make a difference though if the results of my ED I app come out and give me enough time to cancel my ED II app. That’s the way I saw it. I didn’t talk with my councilor before hand and the application is not complete as a result (transcripts not sent in, sat scores not sent in) its just finished on the commonapp. I did them ealy to get my mental checklist finished.

I don’t see why it would be a problem tho. Results for the EDI app come out before the deadline of the ED II deadline…its not rolling admission so wheres the issue.

If EDI decision comes out before the EDII deadline, and it’s not rolling, why wouldn’t you just wait for the decision?

I only have a week after my ED I decision comes out to mail off the rest of my apps (transcripts etc because of winter break). I didn’t want to get to that point and start worrying again if my supplements were good enough so i just bit the bullet and sent off my online app as soon as I was happy with it.

The question is, is it okay that I did or not. And because I haven’t actually mailed in my ED agreement to NYU or my SSR and recs. Does it matter?
I read somewhere else on the forum that it doesn’t but I want to make sure as it was only one user saying so.

any other opinions? Thanks CC. Thus far it seems like it wouldn’t be a problem. I doubt Commonapp would allow an illegal action like that anyway. Still if there’s any ideas out here I’d like to hear them. thanks

CC does not check for that. What you did is wrong. You could have sent in transcripts, SAT scores, teacher recs, but not the application.

I don’t see how it matters if you haven’t sent in the actual ED agreement to the ED2 school. As far as I can tell, you haven’t actually applied ED2 without that agreement.

I agree with ClassicRockerDad. You have not actually applied to NYU yet. You are fine.
