Hey! I'm interested in ED II and I was wondering what the acceptance rate is in comparison to the regular decision rate. Is it really that much of a difference? I'm a male, first gen. college student with a 93 GPA and 2090 SAT score.

Collegedata.com says 47% ED but does not have data for EDII. Tour guide told us that it was pretty much the same as RD…20% for women and 34% for men. I’m not sure it really matters. ED typically has better applicants and then also recruited athletes. Your SAT score is on the lower end, so you could be one they deny. Can you take it again? My research tells me that most of the applicants with SAT scores below 2100 have some sort of major hook. Do you have that?

Green1997: Vassar’s mean SAT score for attending students is 2097, so I see less of a problem for you, even without retaking the exam. In your case, being first gen is at least a minor hook and, according to the numbers provided by the previous poster, so may be your being male.

I’m sending in an arts supplement. I build sets, props, etc. for shows. Is that a hook? I’m also South Asian…?

Do you guys think I should ED II if the applicant pool is going to be much stronger? ED II and RD cannot have the same acceptance rates; I’m sure ED II has SOME sort of statistical advantage

@Green1997 I know I’m not answering a question of yours, but I just wanted to point out that Vassar doesn’t actually accept theatre/theatre tech and design Slideroom supplements (I’m a stage manager and a properties master so I was a bit sad about that). However, the admissions office encouraged me to send in a Your Space portfolio instead of an actual arts supplement, so you could certainly provide some images and descriptions and turn that into a Your Space submission. Because most of my experience is in stage managing as opposed to design, I used the resume section of the supplement to submit a theatre resume instead - you could do that as well. Cheers!

I’m not sure if Vassar is fully public with their breakdown. Corresponding figures for Hamilton, to give you some idea:

ED1 acceptance rate: 41%

ED2 acceptance rate: 29%

RD acceptance rate: 25%

Thanks! I think i’ll go ahead and ED II. Thanks for the info LaMuniv. I thought I could submit my tech. theater portfolio as an arts supplement because it doesn’t fall under the “Drama” category… or at least I didn’t think it did. I will go ahead and do you said!

@Green1997 it wouldn’t hurt to email or call the admissions office and double-check, but I believe tech and design are included in “drama”. I liked the idea of not sending a Slideroom supplement anyway, since it’s less work and doesn’t involve any additional fees :)
