ED Kids?

I'm applying ED to Haverford and I was hoping to start a continued thread of support/FUN! for my fellow ED-ers. Talk, cyber-snacks, and excitement are all called for and much needed! Only seven (?) weeks until we find out if we're admitted!

I'm ED for Haverford, but Im freaking about getting in. The only other school that has caught my attention is Middlebury (and also Tufts, but they "reccomend" a Math SATII and i dont have one).

I know Im going to college, but I dont want to go to stonybrook or binghamton. Not because the academics are poor, but the overall experience will likely be dull and regretful.

I've become overly attached to my ED school, which is probably bad since theres an chance ill get in, but an equally likely chance that I will not.

I'm aplly ED, and should be finishing that...

Cyber-snacks? Have a cookie :)

i applied ED to haverford as well...i'm kinda nervous. Afterall, the letter will be sent out in about 2 weeks...

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

Or even before then...if you look back at last year's posts, at least some of the letters were sent on the ninth, and received on the 13. This year, the ninth is a Saturday, so maybe Friday or Monday? plus some travel time. Ohh my. Good luck to all!

really?!?!

...i don't know whether to be totally excited or nervous...lol

okay...is it just me or does no one even venture into these forums? Are there only like 3 kids applying ED cause i would think that there would be at least a little more....im kinda disappointed...the decisions are days away and still no one has even stopped in...sigh

...well i guess we'll start a new thread when the results actually come back and we can start posting stats....i mean the ppl last year seemed so much more excited than these this year...

....so in all...SOME ONE PLZ POST SOMETHING!!!...thanks :)

3 kids applying ED that come to this forum that is...about 200+ applicants apply for ED and about 100 get in ED.

Results in less than two weeks, so i've got fingers crossed. I've posted chances thread on the chances forum and it doesnt look all too good for me, but thats ok.

i also applied ED to haverford ... although i feel that my chances of getting in are slim. i am so anxious and nervous that i practically count down the hours until my acceptance (or rejection) letter comes. well good luck to all of you who applied ED. hope to see you at haverford next year!

yeah...i've been getting myself really worked up too...im under so much stress

...but on a lighter note...where's everyone from?

I'm from central jersey

Hi. =) I applied ED too!

I also applied ED and I think they're not going to mail before the announced date of the 15th because they got a record number of applicants this year--over 250, beating last year's record of 207. My dad is an alum and he got a letter with these figures.

The number is actually closer to 265. The new Dean of admissions (Jess Lord who came from Pomona, and Brown prior to that) is doing an amazing job of getting the Haverford name out there to people who previously, wouldn't be applying ED to Hav.

Hav's system is very fair. Every member of their staff reads all of the early apps. You can be sure that you aren't getting a "bad read" because the persons assigned to your file has different interests than you; or you are not their type of person. Oh and by the way, this happens on a regular basis. Admissions decisions are made by humans and not robots. A common adage in the admissions field is that people look for people like themselves.

In the regular pool, apps get three reads and decisions are made by consensus, but in the early pool, all eight officers read every file and reach a consensus on each student.

hmm I feel kinda guilty for not posting on this board in such a long time seeing as I started it after all. I'm getting pretty nervous. It is comforting to see that the process is very fair though.

Oh and I live about five minutes north of D.C.

Only about a week left . . . hope everyone gets in!

hi everyone! i also applied ED ... i'm from upstate NY ... and i can't wait any longer! i really wish haverford posted online or something like other schools, oh well. good luck!

In a way I wish they posted online (just because I want to know immediately), but waiting for the physical letter is so old-school and romanticized that I can deal (barley).

Good luck everyone!!

There's nothing more that my friends and I want for HC than to know that current students are excited about the school and realize the unique educational experiences HC provides. I hope your enthusiasm translates into acceptances. :)

Plenty of schools are academically strong and can prepare you for whatever job or grad school you desire... but I can think of NONE that challenges you to think about integrity and the idea of community as systematically as HC. If such ideas resonate with you, there's no better place. I've forgotten most of freshman organic chemistry, but HC's most important lessons stay with you for life.

I've posted this before.

It's not surprising to see my former Honor Code Orienteer, Tom Roberts '93 and Yale Law grad, still involved with honor code stuff... "Rufus Jones Day".
<a href="http://biconews.com/article/view/5071%5B/url%5D">http://biconews.com/article/view/5071</a></p>

By the way, my impression with HC admissions is that they don't necessarily favor candidates with the strongest test scores/rank, but rather look for nice kids who have reached a certain threshold of high academic achievement (so that they can survive HC's intense workload if admitted) BUT ALSO demonstrated that they can contribute something meaningful or unique to the community if admitted. Hope that describes you!

thanks HC alum!

...god..only 4 more days....

the nerves are starting to kick in lol

Good luck guys. HC is a great school in a very nice area (I live like 5 minutes away). I'm sure you'll all be happy there.

Are the letters mailed on the 15th? Or do we get them by the 15th (post office isn't always exactly on time).

Im freakin out about ed
