ED Kids?

I hope everything works out for all of you. In the past, Haverford has sent out decisions slightly early. Also, they tend to use normal-sized envelopes; don't lose hope until you actually read the letter! Best of luck :)

hi everyone - i just got my letter, and i'm in!

fordinator is right, the envelopes are thin, just two letters and a pamplet with the honor code, lol!

but anyway, good luck!! i hope you all get in!

got rejected...I'm devastated not beacuse of the rejection because this may signify that I dont stand a chance at top liberal arts colleges. well it was a good effort, but Im too average.

But I do have a question, is it ok for me to call up Haverford and ask for an explanation for rejection? I'd like to know which parts of my app needs tweaking for RD.

I got my letter yesterday . . . I'm in!!!!

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Hey, congrats User and Polka.

Buzz, It stings, but I hope you find regained confidence with the rest of your applications. For many applicants, the margin between R/WL/A is small and these LACs weigh different things. Just look at the NYT series I showed you earlier... this kid with all the scores applied ED to HC, was rejected and wound up getting into Swat RD... and I told you what happened to me as well. Such things are uncommon, but, in my experience, not rare at all. Clearly, I don't think a well crafted letter asking HC's adcom will hurt, but I'm not sure the extent that it will help you... for example, if your LORs were so-so, that's something that they will not tell you about. I'd speak to your GC 1st. Investigate a few more top colleges where your scores are the mean... also, consider looking at top schools outside of normal geography where admissions, by the #s, seem to be a touch less selective (Grinnell, Davidson, Oberlin...). There's plenty of room at the top.

I don't want to create a frenzy on these boards, but I can see that Haverford's pool is stronger this year. Kids are getting denied that would have been WL'd in the past. Their ED apps were up and I anticipate that to be the same for regular admissions. I bet they dip under 25% for their acceptance rate this year.

i finially got my letter too... and im in!! good luck to the rest of you out there.

I didn't get in but don't recommend contacting Haverford Admissions. Our follow-up discussion with them just made my parents very upset.
