I am applying to NU early decision. I have a 3.7 weighted gpa 3.5 unweighted. I have taken Ap lang, ap euro, ap psych, and apush. This year I have ap lit, ap environmental, and ap gov. My act at the moment is a 28 but 30 superscored. I know they don't superscore but my English was a 33 and writing has been a 10 every time. Science is a 29, math a 26, and English a 31. I'm applying either as an English or legal studies major with prelaw. I am a 3 year varsity swimmer. I am distinguished young woman of my town. I organized from scratch a production of the nutcracker at a local elementary school and raised thousands of dollars for the fisher house (by myself). My dad went to NU. I have phenomenal letters of rec from my guidance counselor, my teacher, the pto president of the local elementary school I worked at, and a family friend that used to work for NU admissions. I also won a nationally recognized scientific essay/lab research contest as a nonAP bio student competing against APbio students for fun. I am a class officer and on multiple executive boards at my school including JSA and student council. I already had my alumni interview and it went AMAZING! It was by far my best interview of my life and I won the interview award at Distinguished Young Women State. Chance me?

I retook the act on Saturday and I think it will be a 30-32 (I calculated an estimated score based on the questions I wasn’t 100% were correct. It just depends on the curve…

I wish I could be optimistic but your stats are very low for NU. Your extracurriculars are outstanding. My daughter was a double legacy, 33 ACT and 4.1 weighted average, four year varsity swimmer, and was waitlisted. I think your ECs give you a chance, but I can’t say how much.

The interview isn’t as much to help you get in as it is to help you learn more about the school. Like AnonMom said, I don’t think you really have a great chance, but if your ACT surprises you as higher than you expect, your ECs could be boosts. Sorry I can’t be too optimistic though
