So, uh, I basically can't contain myself. December 15 feels so very far away, and I almost lack the energy to finish my other applications because Vassar is absorbing me...

And I know I'm not the only one. So, let's do a countdown! We can countdown the days, discuss ways to pass the time, and then (when your decision arrives) you can come and express your happiness or your sadness (yikes!) at the decision.

Today is December 1...Like, 14-15 days more..

im hoping it will be sooner than that...according to threads from last year people started hearing back around dec 11th

anyway, i find that the best way to not think about it is to watch a favorite tv show or read a good book. whenever you talk to anyone the conversation leads to college someway or another...

I had a Vassar acceptance letter dream last night. I was so ecstatic...until I woke up.

Are acceptance envelopes thick or thin? I've heard of a recent trend in college admissions where some acceptances are sent in thin envelopes to trick and surprise students...

My son is jumping out of his skin!! He just wants to know. I think the stress is really getting to him, although he has been plugging away on school work still.

Pressure is really getting to me as well, although I eat ice cream in the snow on a regular basis. The worst part for me is that I don't know exactly when I will find out; when my brother applied ED two years ago he had a date and a time to go online and find out his fate. Ah!

OniLawliet,
are you sure that they are sending only via snail mail?
i am an international applicant and it would take a long time to reach here.
am getting as anxious as you all are.
do you think it's a good idea to email admissions?

International students should be able to see whether or not they got in online. OniLawliet is right, however, in stating that domestic students within the US will only be receiving replies via post. Unfortunately, I have no information about when letters will be sent out.

Flybass,
What site are you talking about? Are you listed on the website somewhere? The only web link my son has is the one that tells him the paperwork that the admissions committee has received so far.

Don't go clicking on any links or websites you are sent. I think a few years ago some students got access to the admitted page of a college, and if they went onto that site, they were rejected by the school.

hey, i'm new to this but my college counselor called vassar today because i too am FREAKING OUT about decisions. they basically said like, we don't know exactly when the letters are being sent out because there are SOOOOOOOOO many applicants (bad news).

and i think thin is for acceptances and denials from most schools, my friend got into ursinus and she got this TINY little letter and her whole family looked at it like...sorry...and she opened it and it was like, congradulations for being accepted into the class of 2012! so you never really know anymore...

There must be something to this, as it seems as though many students heard by now last year. They received their letters starting on the 11th.

What is your counselor going to do if you don't hear by the 17th or 18th?? I think we will ask our counselor if he should call. My son has an EDII school whose deadline is the 15th - he had to call them and explain about Vassar, and ask if he should send his EDII letter in before he hears from Vassar. They said that he should, and if he gets into Vassar, he can withdraw it.

well im not sure if i'm going to do ED2 yet(skidmore or kenyon, i can't decide), but i'll probably call the school i pick ahead of time to let them know my situation. i don't get out of school until the 20th so i've got some time. but if the letters are going out on friday i think i should be ok. the issue with the 22nd happened in the hs class of 04 so i assume they've gotten their act together by now.

I'm in a similar situation...If I get rejected/deferred from Vassar, then I will likely apply EDII to Macalester. But I need to know (at a maximum) by next Tuesday (the 18th)

I had read somewhere that they were being mailed on the 14th? So I'm expecting a letter this weekend or Monday...
