ED notification date count down

Ohhh no. Apparently there's going to be lots of snow here tomorrow...I may have to bribe the mailman.

i'm on long island... i don't think that's too far though. if i don't get it tomorrow im gonna freakkkk.

Pastafarian- I thought of the same thing, but I remembered the US postal service's unofficial motto:

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

So that better be true, heheh!

Aaaah, I am SO happy for you, Lstern! So exciting!

Yay!!! Congratulations!

i got deferred... well.. i was kinda on the verge of admit/reject. i hope i have some chance to rd (although usually defer=reject). I am disappointed.

But LStern.. congratulations. you were probably better applicant than i am... hope i could see you next year!

Is that true; does defer usually precede an RD rejection? Obviously by necessity of the admissions stats it would, but does anyone know the stats specific to ED deferrals?

Last year, as far as I know, 6 people got in after being deferred (about 30-40 were deferred). A lot of it is just keeping up contact with Admissions after being deferred...one of the famous cases of my year made a video asking for acceptance that is now very well known on campus, haha.

I GOT IN!

see you next year, Lstern (and hopefully others)!!!!!!

Yay Lstern and another anomaly!!!...

and forgetmenots, is it scary that i know exactly who you're talking about and have seen the video on the internet? i think maybe i'm too obsessed with swat, but i swear i'm not stalking anyone...just really, really obsessed.

Might as well get it over with... rejected.

The only problem I have now is that I don't have any money to send other applications right now, which is kind of distressing.

rejected...

the letter was so impersonal. I wish I knew what I did wrong. My grades were high, I've been taking the highest courseload possible, I have a bunch of legit extra curriculars... I just don't get it. I wish they'd tell us (the rejects) what we did wrong so that we could improve stuff (like essays or something). I'm fuming/hysterical/borderline in tears right now so I'm gonna go and plunge into college applications. Bye.

Accepted! =D

I'm sorry, NeuroticSenior and Brillar. Ack.

Deferred...oh well. They must have liked me at least a little bit, right?

Pastafarian, love your deferral.

Now you have time to show tons of interest and get in anyway.

Deferred too. Which is a good thing, I guess...but it limits my ability to induce a chocolate coma or celebrate, and means that my winter break is going to be severely unpleasant.

Does it seem to anyone else as if three CC referrals indicates a large quantity? Is this bad?

I'm so sorry, guys. My best friend got deferred today, so I know (through association) the sadness...you'll all get into great schools and be happy anyway, though, I'm sure!

Swat had a 10% increase in ED applications this year, which is a huge chunk since they did not accept many (only a few) more people than last year. This may mean that there were more deferrals, or that people who would've gotten in in last year's application pool missed the cutoff this year...regardless, I doubt it means that deferrals are insanely on the rise. That wouldn't be a smart thing for Swarthmore to do.

really? that's terrible.. that means more deferral = less chance of getting in, right? I was strongly wishing that swat just deferred people who might have some chance of getting in.. I hate how competitive this has to be. honestly, how many koreans apply to swat for ED? I thought my approach as a creative writer, and strong biology student would work out.. now that i got deferred, i should have applied to less competitive school for ED

but on the other hand, if I got deferred by Swat, which usually don't defer people, would I have a high chance with a little less intense school like hopkins?

There's always EDII, if you can make it.
