I am beginning to see many other students get ED decisions from other top universities, and was wondering if anyone had any information on when ED applicants to Rochester will be notified? My application is still on step 4, but I am hoping that this will change soon! I understand that last year most people received their letter on the 14/15th, does anybody have information that says this year will be different?

URHopeful,

We are going to mail the ED I decision letters around December 14th / 15th. Your MyRoc account will move into the next step when your letter has been sent. (I do not believe that any letters are being mailed tomorrow. I will post a new thread / respond to this one when the ED letters go out.)

The following email was just sent to the U of R Admissions Counselors…

“ED Admit letters, for the students that we have completed confirmation forms for, are going out today. Denies, postpones, and a few more ED Admit letters should be out Monday.”

I have been told to not rely on your MyRoc account to know when your letter has been sent. Even if you’re an ED Admit, your MyRoc account will not be switched to the next stage for 10 business days. We do this so students don’t call every day and ask “What’s my decision! What’s MY DECISION?!?!”

Every ED applicant will still be in “Stage 4” on their MyRoc account for quite some time. Your physical letter will arrive before the MyRoc updates.

Best of luck everyone! The letters are going to be picked up at 4pm today (12/9/11).

That applies for international students as well right? 'cuz if it was mailed on the 9th , i should have recieved it by now.

I’m on the West coast and I haven’t received anything yet either. Will an email be sent at any point regarding our decision?

It will take time for letters to arrive. Every ED I student who completed their application by the deadline (Nov 1st) should receive their letter by December 15th.

Admission decisions from the University of Rochester will not come through MyRoc or email.

When will Early Decision II applicants know by? The letter said within 3 weeks of receiving the confirmation, but could you post if you hear from the admissions office when the letters are being mailed?

I wrote a response to this question in another thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-rochester/1254410-switching-ed.html#post13587608

I am certainly happy to post a new thread about ED II letters when I get that information!

Tyler,
My S was accepted early decision to another university, what is the proper procedure for withdrawing his application?

The mail has just come, and we still have not received a decision. Would you advise calling the admissions office at this point?

Our mail in Boston has just come and there is nothing there. Given that it is the 15th and UofR did state they would notify the ED 1 candidates by today, aren’t we entitled to an answer by phone?

You can certainly call! If there is something holding up your application, our admissions counselors will let you know what it is!

However, if the decision has been mailed, we might just tell you to “hold on tight, a decision letter is on its way.”

Since I was one of the complainers, wanted to just report my son received a letter informing him that he had won a UofR scholarship today. It was mailed Dec 14th. We live outside Boston. Because the individual who signed it says she looks forward to welcoming him in August, we are going to assume he got in. A little odd but since he’s happy, I’m happy.

I still havent received my letter and on enquiring they said I will receive it soon. I have started applying to other universities now.
