So, as a student who has applied to American University ED, following rumors that AU could make phone calls to accepted students as early as today - has anyone received such a phone call?

Also, I saw a post by someone saying AU may not even start sending out acceptance letters/materials by mail until Thursday (which seems pretty ridiculous to me). Can anyone possibly confirm this?

All of us ED applicants (and our parents) are going insane here. I wish there wasn’t such a lack of info.

I posted a week and a half ago that, based on what they’ve done in the past, today could be the day. That was based solely on what has been reported in past years here on CC. So don’t take my speculation as anything other than what it was - a guess.

They pushed back the ED1 deadline a week due to problems with Common App, even though AU had one of the latest ED1 deadlines in the first place. The University was closed one day last week due to the weather.

All that being said, AU seems to be one of the last to let its ED1 applicants know. And the party line of “received by December 31” isn’t really fair.

Obviously, they are working on this and will release the decisions as soon as they can. I just think, for the future, there are better ways to handle this.

I talked to my admissions rep and confirmed they aren’t sending letters till Thursday.

Who is your admissions rep?

Thanks for the update MrTenInch. I guess we’ll have to wait and see whether or not they do phone calls as well.

i remember coming on this website last year watching everyone getting their phone calls while i got nothing. i was sure i didn’t get in until the big envelope came in the mail. not everyone gets called and not getting a called is not a guaranteed rejection or deferral. If you didn’t have any contact with your local rep like me (i interviewed on campus with a rep from a different region), there’s a chance your rep won’t call you. I’m from outside philadelphia by the way.

^ Good to know, thanks! I had a bit of contact with my rep (NYC) so hopefully I get a phone call and I won’t have to wait for the package to come in the mail (if I get accepted ofc). With the winter storms lately, I wouldn’t put any bets on my package arriving before Monday…

Irlgirl me too where abouts are you from

Only sending emails to overseas applicants.

Do you know when there going to send emails to overseas applicants?

Second that. My kid got an invitation to the Honors Program and a large merit award without getting a call from the admissions office when notifications went out.
