Byebye, Barnard board.

Rejected. Congrats to all who have been accepted.

Got my letter today. In PA. Accepted and I could not be happier!

My daughter was accepted. The package was sent USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope (9"x12"cardboard) on December 14. She received it at about 3:30 today- 2 hours after the regular mail was delivered. She was really bummed, at that point; assumed that again she would have no word.

Accepted!

A big congratulations to princess, mysteryflavored, dreadlocktear, kksands, monydaughter, xinlin, brighteyes1389, and panda2 !!!! It looks like a great group of cc'ers coming in for the class of 2011!

As a Barnard parent, I am happy to answer any questions.

For now: you have all made a terrific choice.

To:FalzeAzure & mad2talk -- keep in mind that this is a process of selection, not rejection, and Barnard's choice in no way is an indication of how other colleges will view your application. My sense is that Barnard looks very much for "fit" -- as THEY define it -- and I know of at least one case here on CC where a student with extremely strong stats was rejected by Barnard but accepted by Columbia. So even though you've got a right to feel bummed out for a few days, take heart -- and use this as an opportunity to review your college lists, knowing that you will probably have an excellent set of choices in the spring.

I got my acceptance letter this afternoon!! In Northern California... Congratulations to everyone else!

My dd received her letter today and was deferred. She still wants to go to Barnard--it really is her number one choice. I suggested she apply EDII to her second-ranked school, but she wouldn't hear of it. The letter from Barnard seemed to invite people who were still interested to send in more information and make a case for themselves. The letter mentioned additional recommendations and updates. My dd did win a statewide acting award two weeks ago--the guidance dept. was going to fax that information in--don't know if it got there or not. There was a girl from my dd's school who was deferred two years ago and got in RD. My dd is going to call her over the break and ask her what she did. The good news is that the waiting is over and dd can move on and do what she has to do. None of my other children applied ED, so I'm wondering if it isn't just better to move on? Will the admissions people tell you how many deferred people get in RD? Not all that much is going to happen between now and April and if it's a long-shot then it might be better for her to concentrate her efforts elsewhere.

Congrats to all of you!! Very very excited.

Facebook? I'm sooo there.
