Hey for people who got deferred, does your letter say anything about reviewing your application again on regular decision?

Is Emory like University of Michigan, where they have 3 different versions of the deferral letters? Anyhow, my deferral letter, midway, said this:

Before we make your admission decision, we would like to see your grades from the fall term and any other new information relating to your application, such as standardized test scores or changes in your current course selection. Please see that your grades and any other pertinent information are submitted as soon as possible.

What does this mean? Am I still a hopeful candidate?

Here’s my entire letter, what it said word for word. Can any other deferred applicants post their letters as well? So as to find out if there are any other versions of the deferral letter?

I’m not sure if Michigan goes that.
Well mine doesn’t say anything like that.
They just said they thoroughly read large number of applications holistically and stuff, and said please consider applying to Emory College again in the future as a transfer student.
I guess flat out rejection.

my letter:

Based on a careful review of your Early Decision application to Emory College, the Admission Committee has decided to defer your application to our Regular Decision group. Regular Decision applicants will receive their final admission decision by April 1, 2013.

We appreciate and recognize your strong interest in Emory College and look forward to a further review of your candidacy. You may be a competitive candidate, but the admission committee would like additional time to render an informed decision on your application in the context of our complete applicant pool. Please see that your first semester senior year grades are sent for inclusion in your application file, as well as any other new information, such as additional standardized test scores, updates to your non-academic achievements, or any changes in your current course selection. We encourage you to visit [Early Decision Deferred Student Information | Emory College of Arts and Sciences Admission](Admission | Emory University | Atlanta GA) for additional information and answers to frequently asked questions by deferred applicants.

Another option to consider is starting your Emory education on our Oxford campus. Oxford is the birthplace of Emory and is a competitive undergraduate college within the University offering students the option of a small campus environment. Oxford provides a liberal arts intensive curriculum for the freshmen and sophomore years of one’s Emory baccalaureate degree. After successfully completing two years at Oxford, students may automatically continue to Emory in Atlanta where all students graduate with an Emory University degree. If you have not already applied directly, your Emory College application can now serve as your application to Oxford. In order to be considered for a position in the first year class at Oxford College, please complete our online request form by December 31, 2012. Please note, you may receive a decision of admit, deny, defer or waitlist from the Oxford College Admission Committee.

Please let us know if we can answer any questions you may have. Best wishes for continued success this year!

My letter:
The Admission Committee has completed the review of Early Decision candidates for the Class of 2017, and we regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to Emory College for the fall of 2013.

We know this decision comes as a disappointment and we recognize the time, thought, and effort spent preparing your application for admission. This was clear to the admission committee after a thorough and fair evaluation of your application materials within the context of all other applicants. Emory receives applications from a highly qualified group of prospective students each year, and because of the competitive nature of our selection process it is not possible to admit everyone who has the potential to be successful here.

Be assured your serious interest in Emory was considered and your application was reviewed individually and holistically by the admission committee. Should your interest in Emory continue, please consider applying again in the future as a transfer student. Transferring to Emory requires that you first complete one full year of college coursework in a degree seeking program.

We offer you our best wishes for a productive, and above all, rewarding college experience.

Sincerely,

They clearly did not say anything about reviewing my application again nor mentioned about Oxford College.

Hey guys i got in but do you know where the financial aid offer is supposed to be shown?

Eli: I got accepted to Emory today and deferred from Tulane yesterday!

apocky, I wish that happened to me, I’d have been totally okay with that!

Accepted to Emory!

Accepted!! I can’t wait to meet everyone!!

Rereading this and hating my guts.

Is anyone else getting the message that their admission decision isn’t available yet? I sent in my papers back in October and never got any emails/calls saying I was missing anything. I’m going to call them but I just wanted to see if this was happening to anyone else.

Emory is my first choice and I would LOVE to attend. I just received notification of my early decision application; I was deferred to regular decision. I have a 3.6 unweighted GPA and a superscored SAT of 2020. I have taken over half of the AP classes offered at my school, and so I am awarded a weighted GPA of 4.6. I am afraid that Emory is only considering my unweighted GPA, but I am not sure. As I am in the winter of my senior year, there is not much I can do to change my GPA and my mid-year grades are pretty much finalized. What can I do to strengthen my application so I can be successful in the my application’s second review during regular decision? I don’t know how else I could possibly show passion for the school. I keep in touch with my admissions counselor, visited the campus, and applied ED I. Is it even possible to increase my chances? If so, how?

Any ideas can only help! Please respond if you can be of assistance.

Thanks for taking the time to help out.

I was accepted ED. My grades are very good but not incredibly high. For my application, I really emphasized myself as a whole, not just by the numbers or what I have done. I was sure to keep in contact with my representative and let the school know that I was truly interested. I also wanted the admissions committee to really know me as a person. I tried to make that come through in every part of the application. I wouldn’t worry too much about the GPA. The whole package is what counts.
