Hey!

I .

My 2nd son.
First son is a junior Eph.

Congratulations on your decision to apply Early Decision to Williams College.

I remember mailing my application off three days before the deadline last year; it certainly is an ecstatic mix of emotions. Not a week went by when I didn't think of the myriad possibilities. 'Will I get in? Will I get deferred? Rejected?' These thoughts will cross your mind several times before Dec. 15th (more likely dec. 16th or 17th) arrives.

now that the application process is over, however, I realize that a lot of the hype over the falling admissions rates is just that - hype. What admissions officers want most is someone who adds real value to Williams. A lot of applicants reflect a disingenuous "gloss" (Private counselors, tutors, etc.) that pervades true intellectual talent, and are subsequently rejected.

Since being accepted ED last year, i've had the opportunity to speak with and get to know a lot of the admissions officers here, and my greatest advice to you is to approach the application as a genuine, thorough, reflection of yourself as an individual; not as you would believe adcoms want you to be, but as you truly are.

I'm going for it.

I'm probably applying for ED. Super excited :D
