Tulane is my first choice and I really want to apply early decision, but my parents want me to wait until I go to the campus preview day September 25th. The problem I have is that our school’s college counseling office urges students to apply to Tulane during mid-September for the best chances to get in but if I go and decide to do early decision and submit my application on the 25th, and that would put me behind the mark. Should I apply early action and then sign my early decision contract after I visit? Is that even possible? Thanks in advance!
Tell your college counseling office that this is the first year Tulane has ED, so the need to apply as early as mid-September is not as critical. Besides, even for EA that date is an exaggeration. Tulane loves interest, and very early applications not only often show interest, but also get answers earlier that Dec 15 in many cases. But the first week of October is early enough to accomplish this. So I say take your trip and solidify your desire to apply ED. If you do, the rest is moot. If you decide on EA instead, you are still in great shape.
