I really want to go to Rice and I'm super excited about the school. I have an interview this Saturday. I'm really worried because I don't think my GPA or SATs are high enough and I don't know if I am a fantastic essay writer. Enough so that they look past my low stats

I wanted to visit but I will have to do it AFTER the ED deadline.

Essays
one will highlight my experience in Africa (which I think is prob the same way anyone would feel after going there, nothing too special accept the experience)
This one is okay, it's not absolutely amazing

other how I have over come all the trouble and turmoil in my life and not let that stop me
(have not written yet)
So any chance??

I really really want to go.
Out of the 500 who apply ED, only 150 will make it. Will I be an Owl?

Your SAT scores are a little bit low, so that decreases your chances a bit, but overall you look like a solid applicant - I would say it could go either way (50/50).

I think you have a solid chance of getting in...
great ECs and schedule, scores a little low but not terrible.
For one of your essays, you might want to include religion in the essay concerning
the turmoil in your life...
and your awards are special!
I think you've got a great shot

my struggles help me when I'm preaching and ministering. So ED, I've got a good chance?

dont screw up on your ED applications but your SAT score/ GPA are on the low side so i say a big reach.

OMG!!!! Am I over stressing?? I cant even sleep at night!!

just dont stress.. you gotta take rejection in your life buddy

so you think I'll be rejected??!!

no, im just saying if you do, you gotta accept it

well, Vandy and Emory are banging my door down with mail and stuff. Does that mean they really want me? I mean Emory even sent me a personalized app. Is that a good sign?

I hate to burst your bubble, but just about every kid that scores above average on any standardized test receives piles of mail from top colleges. I personally believe it is their ploy to get average students to apply so they can reject them and raise their selectivity ratings and therefore rankings.

wow that's a mean thing to do. my confidence is lowered

it seems like a lot of ppl ignore mine. I'd like to get around 10 diff opinions

pyles-

rice looks good for you - be prepared for anything!

so everyone agrees, do ED and hope for the Best

I'm going to make my commitment tomorrow? Any more comments?
