ED or RD?

Hey, everyone. Like most rising seniors, I'm more than confused about my future. I visited Cornell and absolutely loved it. The campus was exactly what I imagined a college should look like. However, I am concerned about not getting in. The obvious choice would be ED, but money doesn't grow on trees around here, and Cornell's tuition is more than hefty. Anyone have this issue, and if you did, how did you choose one over the other?

Here are my stats:
1990 SAT (1330 M/CR)
3.8 UW/4.2 W GPA
Near but not in top 10% of very competitive class
Solid ECs
Expecting great recs
Applying to CAS

I am also puzzled about Cornell being a pressure-cooker when it comes to academics and workload. Is it still possible to have a fun time while maintaining good grades? Thanks for the help. It is greatly appreciated!

If you write some excellent essays, have solid EC's, and get some nice recs, you could have a shot if you apply ED. It's a reach, but it's worth sending in an application early decision if Cornell is your #1.

Of course you can have a fun time while maintaining good grades. CAS especially, you're not going to be pressured cooked.

Why would you want to have fun in college?!!?? College is there so you can study 24/7!

What about the financial aspects of ED over RD?
