please chance me for ED PENN
and also dartmouth, brown, and northwestern

I think you are probably in for Northwestern, a high match/low reach for Dartmouth,Upenn (High accepatnce rate relative to other ivys 18%) and Brown. You look pretty well rounded and have good solid stats. Maybe retake ACT or SATs for a solid in? Overall you look in pretty good shape. Good luck with everything :)

Best of luck to you, I am also applying ED to CAS and am anxiously awaiting a decision too. I don’t believe in the whole chance thing because that is just someone’s opinion and there is no sense getting upset over someone’s opinion, the only one that matters is the opinion of the admissions expert making the decision. Like you, my credentials match what they are looking for in a student and I feel I would be a great fit for the school, now it’s just matter of whether they agree that I am a great fit too. I hope to see you at freshman orientation. Keep me posted and I will do the same. I wish you the best of luck, it won’t be too much longer now. Just hope we don’t get waitlisted , I don’t think I can wait until April to find out. Just curious, do many students from your school go on to schools like Penn typically? My school has a very good track record for sending many students to the Ivy League.

hi fellow EDer
my school sent 3 ppl to penn last year from early decision. we usually have around 10ish or more go to ivys.
this year 6 ppl applied to penn early, all from top 10. is this going to hurt my chances?

I disagree that Penn is a match…maybe low reach at best.

ACT score is low, SAT II’s are not very strong (a Chinese getting 800 on an SATII Chinese will not impress adcoms), ECs are extremely generic (music, sports, soup kitchen, etc.), and you’re an unhooked Asian.

I don’t think that just having other people apply to the same school ed will hurt your chances but you could get an indication based on how you compare to the other candidates. I think it is a positive thing that many students go on to the top tier schools, that means your school has a strong program and the colleges must know that.
My advice to you is what I keep trying to tell myself, don’t worry at this point, you have done everything you can do and it is out of our control now. Try to enjoy your Senior year, I know the waiting is hard but we don’t have a choice. It’s out of our hands now.
Best of luck to you.

You look pretty good on paper (top 2%, good ACT score and grades)
Subjectively, you look average maybe above.

Two caveats:
ORM-that will make it harder for you.
Low income- this will lower their standards for you (but by any standards you are qualified). As long as you took advantage of the opportunities offered to you, you’re fine.

I like your chances for UPenn CAS ED, but if I could see a reason why you would be rejected, its because your ACT score is low. Good luck!

You have great academic stats! And clarinets ftw ORM makes it really difficult, but maybe send a research supplement if it’s awesome (PS, would love to hear about your research!). I say fairly solid chance since you are academically qualified and have focused ECs. With all those people applying ED from your class, it might hurt your chances if your peers have better stats than you. If not, you could be in West Philly the next 4 years Best wishes!
