I just returned from visiting a few colleges in the Northeast (Carnegie, Penn, H, Y, and Cornell). I am having a hard time deciding if I still want to ED to Penn or ED to Cornell instead. I don’t even know if I should ED. Penn has a strong psychology program which is very appealing right now. But Cornell’s surroundings are very nice and the people and classes sound good as well. I’m just not sure if RDing will give me a good chance for either school. Just to give you a brief glimpse of who I am, here are some stats

GPA: 4.3ish weighted 3.9ish unweighted. easily in the top 10%.
SAT: 2080 (Composite) Math 740, CR 690, Writing 650
ACT: 34
SAT II: Math IIC 770, taking Bio and Chinese in the fall.
APs: Psych 5, Comp Sci A 5

Next Year’s classes:
AP Calc BC
Ap Phys
AP Chem
AP Bio
AP Eng
random electives

ECs:
Debate (Variety of awards), Teen Crises Helpline volunteer, founder/prez of school breakdancing club, VP of local Youth Organization of Chinese Americans, Working Part-time all year round at Kumon Math and Reading, NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, Beta Chi Pi, Tennis, Robotics, and some other stuff.

Lastly, my grades have been improving drastically year after year and I am interested in psychology.

Thanks again guys, I truly appreciate it. And throw in some humor too, I’d love a good laugh.

I hope you have a good way to get to cornell. I got into cornell rd, visited once, and immediately decided i wouldn't go b/c just getting there was a living hell.

yeah, it took such a long time to get there and it really is in the middle of nowhere. although now that i think about it, that part is very appealing...

I had trouble deciding where to go for either school too, but I ended up picking penn for the flexibility and easy commute

honestly, if you can't decide on a school to apply to ed, maybe you should just apply ea to other schools or just rd everywhere. if you are not 100% sure that that is the school you want to go to, i definitely wouldn't apply ed.

From experience I can tell you that PEnn is an easy commute. Especially if you are coming from the north (New York) down to Pennsylvania. The SEPTA system is very convenient.

I took nj transit to SEPtA. I did not want to take the china town bus since i did not know the area around Penn that well and I was worried that the China Town bus would not get me near PEnn. As opposed to 30th street station being in the vicinity of Penn.

Unusual, if you're applying, I highly suggest you be careful writing about the biopond. It is INFAMOUS for people going there to smoke (not cigarettes either).

lmao yeah, maybe the biopond would not be the best thing to write about, admissions might get the wrong impression... I have no idea what it is exactly but a lot of people go there to smoke
