ED & PLME question

I submitted my application as early decision with PLME, even if I don’t get into the PLME.
I’m confused and a bit scared. I know for a fact that my scores will probably not get me into PLME AT ALL, so does that mean I automatically get deferred to RD?

Can you get accepted ED Brown but get rejected/deferred to PLME? I’m freaking out! I don’t want to get deferred because I decided to give PLME a try… I also don’t want to lower my chances of getting in because I did PLME.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

They are two separate processes. You can get into Brown early without being accepted to PLME assuming you checked the box saying you allow that option (since there are some people who might not want to be bound to Brown without a PLME acceptance).

The letter must look weird for acceptance then, right?
“Congratulations, but I’m sorry!”
Wonder how that works. haha

I’ve actually never seen one of those letters. I’d expect that if those students checked the box to still be admitted to Brown even if they didn’t get into PLME, they’d be very happy even with the PLME rejection.

Are the letters common? I don’t know why I haven’t seen one on these boards when clearly more people get into Brown ED than the PLME.

I would assume they are relatively common, since I personally know a few students who were ED admits but PLME rejects. I’ll try to ask them what their letters looked like.
